New Netflix Action Movie Trailer Has 1 German Badᴀss Fighting An Entire US Embᴀssy (Who Are The Bad Guys)

The trailer for the upcoming action film Exterritorial has been revealed. Set for release on Netflix, the movie tells the story of a soldier whose son goes missing at the U.S. consulate. She remains on the premises to help search for him, unraveling a conspiracy along the way. Exterritorial was written and directed by Christian Zübert and features Jeanne Goursaud, Dougray Scott, Lera Abova, Kayode Akinyemi, Annabelle Mandeng, Rada Rae, and Nina Liu.

Now, Netflix has revealed the trailer for Exterritorial. The trailer opens with a woman, Sara, arriving with her son at the U.S. consulate to apply for a work visa. She is with him at the start of the trailer but soon vanishes on the premises. When her request to speak to the German police is denied, the protective mother begins to suspect that someone is trying to cover up a kidnapping. The consulate members want Sara gone, but she stays in the building, sneaking in through windows and more to get her son back and figure out what is really going on.

What This Trailer Means For Exterritorial

The Movie Is Coming Soon

The end of the trailer reveals that Exterritorial is coming to Netflix on April 30, which is in two weeks. With a premise not far off from Taken, the upcoming German movie will help Netflix’s efforts to expand on international content. However, the movie’s timing is also coincidental, given the recent circulation of tourists and visa holders being deported from the United States as immigration becomes a hefty topic in the political climate. One case includes two German tourists who were detained and deported from the country.

Non-English-language тιтles like Troll and Under Paris have also done well recently, meaning that the German and English hybrid content may not necessarily detract from Exterritorial‘s success.

Many German shows have grown into prominence on the streamer, including the time-traveling Dark, The Empress, and Babylon. While movies haven’t gained as much traction, the most notable is All Quiet on the Western Front, the WWI movie that won four Academy Awards. On the other hand, Exterritorial has a good chance of ranking in the charts on Netflix depending on word of mouth, the current political climate on immigration, and promotions.

Exterritorial will play on the idea of expectations. One of the consulate members says “she’s just a scared mother,” while the trailer crosscuts to Sara’s violent rampage. The protagonist may seem unᴀssuming, but she is determined and has a strong, capable side to her when it comes to combat. These contrasts between expectations and reality will create interesting opportunities for the lead character within the Netflix film.

Our Take On The Exterritorial Trailer

The Movie Could Do Well

Exterritorial Sara in elevator clutching arm

Exterritorial sets up one of the most fun action premises I’ve seen in a while, seeing one German mother fight against a slew of enemies, all of which are part of the U.S. consulate. In terms of success potential, I also believe that this movie could do very well on Netflix. The streamer has managed to see global success with other one-person action films, as evidenced by last year’s Carry-On. Non-English-language тιтles like Troll and Under Paris have also done well recently, meaning that the German and English hybrid content may not necessarily detract from Exterritorial‘s success.
