James Gunn Gives New Update On When The Next Superman Trailer Will Be Released

James Gunn gives an honest update on whether or not DC Universe fans will be getting a new Superman trailer anytime soon. After being gone from the big screen for several years, DC’s most iconic superhero is about to fly back into theaters this summer with David Corenswet’s Superman movie, which will set the foundation for the new DCU franchise. With the Superman marketing underway, it has been more than three months since the first trailer made its debut to the world.

As Superman is getting closer to its big July release, a fan recently asked the DC Studios co-CEO on Instagram about the next trailer for the Man of Steel’s reboot. However, Gunn gave the following response:

We just released five minutes of footage in theaters so it will be a beat!

James Gunn Reponds About Superman Trailer Release

The five-minute footage that Gunn is referring to is the extended Superman sneak peek that was shown in front of A Minecraft Movie. At the time of this story’s publication, Gunn has not offered any additional updates about when fans should expect to see the next Superman trailer.

What James Gunn’s Superman Trailer Update Means For The DCU Movie

One of the many reasons why the next Superman trailer is being as heavily discussed as it is right now is because of Superman Day, which will be taking place on Friday, April 18, as fans have been speculating that would be where DC Studios drops the second trailer. April 18 is when Superman first made his debut as a comic book character back in 1938. While Gunn’s update may be disappointing to some, the director did previously state that he is still working on the new trailer after the extended Superman preview was released online.

Even if there won’t be any Superman footage arriving this Friday, that doesn’t mean that DC Studios couldn’t potentially have other plans to take part in Superman Day. Gunn or the Superman cast could easily have something prepared that helps promote the film while also celebrating the Man of Tomorrow’s comic legacy. But as far as a second Superman trailer goes, time will tell when DC Studios actually intends to release it, although it wouldn’t be shocking if it happens either later in April or sometime in early May.

Krypto brings Kal-El to the Fortress of Solitude in the Superman Movie

Unless Gunn is just trying to keep the second Superman trailer dropping on Friday as a surprise, only time will tell what other methods DC Studios may use to participate in Superman Day this week. If there isn’t footage released this week, there could always be a new Superman poster released, showcasing the other characters that will be part of the story. Hopefully, there will be something from Gunn’s Superman movie as the world celebrates Krypton’s last son on Superman Day.
