I’m Ready For A New Twilight Movie, But Not The Twilight Saga: The New Chapter — The Trailer & Future Of The Franchise Explained

From the mid-2000s to the early-2010s, Twilight was one of the dominant forces in pop culture, with Stephenie Meyer’s book series a runaway bestseller that was eventually made into a movie series that dominated the YA adaptation landscape alongside The Hunger Games. The Twilight Saga movie series ran from 2008 through 2012, and nothing else from the franchise has been seen since, aside from several new books that Meyer wrote, which act more as companions or reimaginings than an actual continuation of the story.

Despite that, Twilight has remained on the periphery of pop culture, for better and for worse, but the core love for the franchise has never quite disappeared. Meyer tapped into something special with her epic love story about a human and a vampire that endures two decades after the first book was published, and the hunger for a new Twilight movie, book, or even TV series is strong.

The Twilight Saga: The New Chapter Is A Fake, Fan-Made Trailer

Renesmee Takes Center Stage In The Trailer

At the beginning of 2025, YouTube channel KH Studio released a trailer тιтled “The Twilight Saga 6: The New Chapter”, and although it is an obvious fan-made trailer that utilizes AI to explore its concept and story, it has been able to garner over three million views since it released, with some viewers even thinking that it was a real trailer, excited to see where the franchise could go next. The trailer has a heavy focus on Edward and Bella’s child, Renesmee.

While it would be interesting to see Renesmee explored in a new chapter of the Twilight Saga, it doesn’t feel like the story presented in the trailer is the right direction to take the franchise. If the saga does decide to go into the future with the story, it would be nice to have Stephenie Meyer involved in some capacity, and she could even write another novel prior to it. Still, there is a lot of potential left in the world of Twilight, and Netflix might just have the perfect solution for those hoping to get their vampire fix.

Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun Is Getting An Animated Netflix Adaptation

Told From Edward Cullen’s Perspective

Despite finishing the main Twilight saga in 2008 with Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer has sporadically gone back to the world she created, writing several more books in the process that flipped the script on the entire series. The first was Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, which was published in 2015 and was a gender-swapped retelling of the original novel, with Beau Swan and Edythe Cullen instead of Bella and Edward. Most notable, though, was Meyer’s 2020 novel, Midnight Sun, which tells the events of the original novel through the eyes of Edward Cullen.

In September 2024, Tudum confirmed that an animated series based on Midnight Sun would be coming to Netflix, though the article gave no specifics about the cast, how many episodes it would be, or the release date. It is worth noting that Meyer will serve as one of the executive producers. Outside the original films, there have been no other adaptations of the source material since The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which came out in 2012, making Midnight Sun an incredibly interesting adaptation for the Twilight franchise as a whole.
