The King Of Kings’ Debut Audience Score Is Stellar
The Movie Has Received Glowing Audience Reviews
2025’s The King of Kings has received glowing reviews from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The new animated movie is adapted from the Charles Dickens children’s book The Life of Our Lord and features Dickens (Kenneth Branagh) as a character in the framing narrative, telling the story of Jesus Christ (Oscar Isaac) to his son Walter (Roman Griffin Davis). The star-studded voice cast of the movie also includes Uma Thurman as Catherine Dickens, Pierce Brosnan as Pontius Pilate, Forest Whitaker as Peter, Ben Kingsley as High Priest Caiaphas, and Mark Hamill as King Herod.
The King of Kings was helmed by South Korean visual effects pioneer Seong-ho Jang in his directorial and screenwriting debut.

While it could fluctuate as more reviews are added, at the time of writing, it has a near-perfect 97% score with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5. While there are not yet enough reviews for the movie to be considered Verified H๏τ by the platform, this score falls well within that range, which bottoms out at 90%.
It also marks Oscar Isaac’s best audience score ever, beating 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (94%), which is so far his only Verified H๏τ тιтle other than 2021’s Dune (90%) across both movies and television projects.
Our Take On The King Of Kings Record
Its Audience Is Relatively Small And Self-Selecting
One possible reason for The King of Kings breaking this record for Oscar Isaac movies is its relartively small number of viewer ratings. To compare, Across the Spider-Verse has more than 10,000 verified ratings. In addition to attracting smaller audiences, faith-based movies tend to specifically court a religious demographic that is more inclined to have positive reactions, rather than general audiences. This is exemplified by the fact that Rotten Tomatoes’ first official crop of Verified H๏τ movies was jam-packed with faith-based movies such as I Still Believe, Jesus Revolution, and Overcomer when they launched the badge in 2024.
