I’m Convinced 1 Major Sadie Sink Spider-Man 4 Casting Theory Is Spot On After The Movie’s New тιтle Reveal

Now that Spider-Man 4 has received its official тιтle, I think one MCU casting theory for Sadie Sink is particularly convincing – and it’s not Mary Jane. In fact, I’m one of many people who would be upset to see Sink portray a version of Mary Jane, as such a move would threaten to completely undermine Peter Parker and MJ’s relationship in the MCU. Instead, I hope that Marvel Studios intends to spotlight a more obscure character from Marvel Comics with Sadie Sink, continuing its longstanding practice of turning obscure Marvel Comics characters into superstars.

Given Sink’s star power and the fact that she was one of the first confirmed cast members, I think it is safe to ᴀssume that she will be portraying a pretty consequential role. Spider-Man 4 takes place in a particularly interesting juncture for the тιтular wall-crawler, as not only will it presumably address how Peter Parker has been coping with his newfound anonymity, but it is due to take place immediately after the events of Avengers: Doomsday. While story details for Spider-Man 4 are still forthcoming, these factors have given rise to some convincing theories about Sink’s upcoming MCU role.

There Have Been So Many Good Theories About Who Sadie Sink Could Be Cast As In Spider-Man 4

The Multiverse Offers Countless Possibilities

Spider-Man 4‘s position in the Multiverse Saga has given rise to countless possibilities for Sadie Sink’s character. Taking place after one of the Multiverse Saga’s climactic movies, Avengers: Doomsday, suggests that the multiverse will play a key role in the narrative, opening the door to characters that might have otherwise been prevented from appearing in the MCU. This is why characters like Mary Jane Watson have been floated, no doubt inspired by Sadie Sink’s distinctive red hair, as a variant of the character could appear to replace Zendaya’s Michelle Jones-Watson. Other casting theories for Sadie Sink include:

  • Jean Grey
  • Angel Jones’ Firestar
  • Gwen Stacy
  • Mayday Parker
  • Black Cat

Many of these theories hinge on Sadie Sink’s character coming from an alternate universe, as characters like Jean Grey would presumably come from a universe in which mutants and X-Men are established. Moreover, fans have been theorizing about Sadie Sink portraying a new love interest like Gwen Stacy and Black Cat due to Peter Parker being single again after MJ has lost all memory of him, potentially setting up some heartbreaking stakes for the character and his love life. Nevertheless, the official тιтle reveal has now made another character even more convincing.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s тιтle Reveal Opens A Casting Possibility I Hadn’t Thought About Before

Screwball Debuted In The “Brand New Day” Era Of Marvel Comics

Spider-Man 4 is officially тιтled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is presumably named after the comic book run of the same name. Marvel Comics’ “Brand New Day” era dealt with similar circumstances to those the MCU’s Peter Parker now faces, as the world has forgotten his idenтιтy and his relationship with MJ. This era of Marvel Comics was essentially a reboot, returning Spider-Man to his street-level roots while debuting a litany of new characters and villains, including Menace, Freak, and, later, Kraven the Hunter’s daughter and successor, Anastasia Kravinoff.

Screwball is a villainous influencer who is more of an annoyance to Spider-Man than a serious threat, utilizing her large social media following and online apтιтude to wreak havoc on the streets of New York.

Another interesting character who debuted in this same era was Screwball in “Amazing Spider-Man #559.” Screwball is a villainous influencer who is more of an annoyance to Spider-Man than a serious threat, utilizing her large social media following and online apтιтude to wreak havoc on the streets of New York. As a low-level villain designed to reintroduce Spider-Man to the MCU five years after Spider-Man: No Way Home, Screwball would be a particularly fun and apt addition to Spider-Man’s MCU rogues’ gallery – and Sink is perfect for the role.

Why Sadie Sink Could Be Perfect For The MCU’s Screwball Role

Sadie Sink Could Make Screwball A New Fan-Favorite

At 22 years old, Sadie Sink is within the perfect age range to portray a young and lively influencer whose weaponization of social media could provide some astute social commentary in the 2026 movie. As the aggravating Screwball, Sink could be the perfect counterpoint to help illustrate Peter Parker’s advancing age, showing how the nearly-30 Spider-Man is beginning to mature enough to start thinking about a successor who could better navigate the inventive threats of a younger cohort of villains. Furthermore, Sink’s natural charisma and relevance make her a prime candidate to portray the social media superstar.

I’m not suggesting that Tom Holland is past his prime as he nears 30, but he has insisted that this age would be around the time he wants the MCU’s Peter Parker to be looking for a successor.

Screwball isn’t exactly a well-known Spider-Man character, but Sadie Sink’s proven abilities as an actress could help to catapult the character into a sleeper MCU fan-favorite. While Screwball could easily become the comic relief character of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sink has the capacity to bring a level of intensity and depth to the character to make her feel more three-dimensional and even relatable. If anything, I hope that this is Marvel’s intention with Sink as it would further indicate a more street-level story for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
