Following the John Wick 5
announcement, a new piece of fan-made poster art imagines Keanu Reeves’ return as the slick ᴀssᴀssin. After making his debut as the character in 2014’s John Wick, Reeves reunited with director Chad Stahelski for three sequels, the most recent of which hit theaters in 2023 and became a mᴀssive hit. John Wick: Chapter 4 seemingly brought the hitman’s saga to a close, but it was just recently revealed that John Wick 5 is in development, with both Stahelski and Reeves expected to return.
While John Wick 5 remains in development and is likely years away, artist diamondᴅᴇᴀᴅ on Instagram now imagines what Reeves’ return may look like in poster form. The poster features Reeves ready for action as Wick holding both an ᴀssault rifle and a pistol while sporting a classic suited look. The diamondᴅᴇᴀᴅ art even includes a fitting tagline for the upcoming sequel with: “You can’t kill someone who is already ᴅᴇᴀᴅ.” Check out the poster art below:

What This Means For John Wick 5
Keanu Reeves’ Return Explained
The John Wick: Chapter 4 ending seemingly wraps the story up with Wick’s death, but it does feature hints that he could be alive. One subtle but important inclusion, for example, is a brief sH๏τ of Wick’s dog reacting to something – or someone – off-screen. This certainly could be Wick. If Reeves’ character is alive, though, it’s unclear what the film’s story will be. In Chapter 4, after all, he fulfills his obligations to the High Table.
It’s not a John Wick movie, however, without Reeves’ character killing dozens upon dozens of enemies in stylish fashion, meaning Chapter 5 will have to introduce some new kind of conflict. It’s possible, for example, that someone from Wick’s past returns, just as Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) did in Chapter 2. The real challenge the film will face will be introducing a new conflict without undoing the poignancy of the Chapter 4 ending, which does feature a sense of finality as the franchise-driving conflict is wrapped up.
Reeves will next return as Wick in the Ballerina spinoff movie, which takes place between the events of the third and fourth films. The movie releases on June 6.
Our Take On The John Wick 5 Poster Art
Reeves’ Return As Wick Is Worth Being Excited About
John Wick: Chapter 4 reviews were glowing from critics and the movie is arguably the best of the franchise, at least in terms of the action on display. A fifth movie does run the risk of the franchise overstaying its welcome. That being said, Stahelski continues to up the ante with each new installment, and the fact that Chapter 5 is in development suggests that he has found a compelling story idea worth pursuing. He has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt with his work so far.
Even if the fifth movie ends up not being as good as its predecessor, the franchise is still operating at a level that is leagues above many other Hollywood action тιтles. Even the worst John Wick movie is better than a lot of the compeтιтion in terms of the level of stunt work and choreography. It remains to be seen how John Wick 5 will fare with audiences, but the poster art above only makes the project even more exciting.
