Marvel’s Strange 8+ Hugh Jackman Wolverine Video Shows Exactly Why He Needs To Be In Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast

Wolverine is one of the most popular characters that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever seen, and a new video shared by Marvel shows why Hugh Jackman needs to be added to the Avengers: Doomsday cast. While there were many X-Men actors confirmed for the new film, Jackman was one of the most surprising names missing from Doomsday‘s cast. Jackman’s Wolverine would be a huge ᴀsset to the success of the upcoming MCU movie, and this is testified to by a recent video shared online.

While Jackman’s time as Wolverine was supposed to end with his character’s death during the ending of Logan, multiverse rules allowed for him to return in last year’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine. That appearance was warmly received, and ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine‘s box office has gone on to become among the best that the MCU has ever seen. With that so recent, and with jokes about Jackman playing the role “‘till he’s 90,many were surprised to not see Jackman as part of Doomsday‘s cast, and with good reason.

Hugh Jackman Currently Isn’t One Of The Announced Members Of Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast

Many Other Members Of The X-Men Cast Are Confirmed For The Film

Hugh Jackman’s absence from the X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday feels like a strange choice. The character was always among the most popular of the team, and many audiences have expected him to be featured in the upcoming films. With Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars set to pull from the Secret Wars comics, it appears likely that various universes will have to fight against one another for survival. Since its announcement, audiences have hoped this would mean character combinations onscreen like Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man teaming up with Jackman’s Wolverine.

Granted, Kevin Feige has confirmed the Doomsday cast is not complete, and Jackman could be announced for the film later. He could also only appear in Secret Wars, which would explain his absence here. However, with such a large cast, and so many X-Men being featured, it feels strange not to see Jackman’s name here. Alongside Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and the rest, Jackman would make a lot of sense with what is being set up for the new film.

The Success Of Marvel’s Bizarre New 8+ Hour-Long Wolverine Video Shows Avengers: Doomsday Would Be Better Off Using The Hero’s Popularity

It Seems Like Audiences May Be Willing To Watch Wolverine Do Anything

Wolverine is perhaps more popular now than he ever was, as has been attested to by a recent video shared on YouTube by Marvel Entertainment. The video, shared on April 8, runs for 8 hours and 36 minutes, and features the sounds and movement of Wolverine breathing for almost its entire run against a red and yellow background. Halfway through the video, Wolverine strikes an iconic pose, before he returns to simply staring into the camera.

The caption instructs that “April is National Stress Awareness Month, so breathe deep and feel your adamantium bones melt away,” before linking to Disney+ in order to promote ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine on streaming.

Shockingly, the video has been watched an incredible number of times already. The clip has been streamed more than 300,000 times in only its first day, and has received 19,000 likes. Responses to the simple video have been positive as well, with users joking by adding comments such as: “This is how long it takes Wolverine to calm down after a five-minute conversation with Wade.” What is most important here, however, is that audiences are clearly interested in watching Wolverine in anything at all, which could attest to the character’s potential value to Doomsday.

Which Version Of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Could Return In Avengers: Doomsday

There Are Many Wolverines Across The Marvel Multiverse

There is a whole multiverse of Wolverines in the MCU, with many Wolverine variants appearing in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine‘s montage, and each of these would be a valuable addition to Doomsday. ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine brought in a new variant of the beloved hero, so as not to undo the ending of Logan, and that iteration of the hero could return. However, if audiences were able to invest in that new Wolverine so quickly, another iteration, whether Old Man Logan, Patches, or a new version entirely, would also appeal to audiences.

While nothing is confirmed, the casting for Avengers: Doomsday seems to suggest a return to the world of the original X-Men films. This would have to occur before Logan, as Patrick Stewart’s Professor X is still alive, which would mean that Hugh Jackman’s original Wolverine would also be. With this time travel considered, the film could simply add the most popular version of the hero to their ranks. This could also happen among the others, as there is no more reason than one Wolverine could not appear in the film.

This new breathing video has once again attested to the popularity of Wolverine, and it is important that the MCU does more with the character. Hugh Jackman should return for the final films of the Multiverse Saga, before the character is recast in the new MCU continuity. While the ending of ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine seemed to say goodbye to those popular characters, there is no harm in bringing back Jackman for Avengers: Doomsday, and it would only help the box office of the upcoming film.
