Popular Casting Choice For DC’s New Batman Addresses Whether He’s Had Talks With DC Studios And Opens Up About Being A Favorite Pick

Since The Brave and The Bold movie is set to cast a new Batman, a popular casting choice for the role shares an update about his potential DC Universe future. With the DCU rebooting numerous heroes and villains for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s franchise, the Dark Knight will be one of many Justice League characters reimagined. While Andy Muschietti is set to direct The Brave and The Bold, the movie is still in the development process, meaning casting has yet to begin – though that hasn’t stopped the rampant speculation on who will play the new Bruce Wayne.

In an interview with ScreenRant’s own Ash Crossan for his new film, Drop, Brandon Sklenar was asked how he feels about being one of the popular fan-casting choices for Batman in the DCU. He elaborated on being asked about it by both fans and press, and Sklenar stressed that he embraces it, stating the following:

Brandon Sklenar: I mean, for Batman? [laughs] Let’s keep running with that! That’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid — and I’ve never even talked about it — It just started happening and I was like, “This is cool!” And now, maybe, hopefully, it happens one day.

I’d love to do it. It’s literally a childhood dream to do something like that, specifically that character. If I [were] ever to do any type of thing in the superhero space, that’s what it would be.

Sklenar was also asked if he has had any calls with DC Studios about taking on the role of Batman in the DCU franchise. In response, Sklenar said he thinks there is some awareness of the idea of him being a popular pick to play the next live-action Dark Knight, stating the following:

ScreenRant: Has anyone…? [makes phone call gesture]

Brandon Sklenar: Yeah. I think there’s some awareness of me on some level, probably. But yeah, I know they’re a ways away from doing that. But yeah, obviously, the little kid in me, and the adult me is, like, “This is cool!” And I have a bunch of ideas. Anyway, it’d be cool.

What Brandon Sklenar’s Batman Casting Comments Mean

As many fans have been sharing their support for wanting to see Sklenar as Batman in the DCU, it’s no surprise that it’s a huge deal for the actor himself to hear the positive feedback about the potential casting. With Batman being one of the biggest roles in all of Hollywood, the compeтιтion is going to be intense, to say the least, as this will be the gig of a lifetime for any actor who gets cast in The Brave and The Bold movie. But with this also taking place in an interconnected universe, whoever gets cast as Batman will have the chance to portray him for many years to come.

When it comes to Sklenar’s comments about whether or not he has actually met with DC Studios, it wouldn’t come as a shock if Gunn and/or Peter Safran are paying attention to some of the buzz happening online about his fan-casting. Since Gunn has a social media presence, it would make sense that he has at least seen people talk about the prospects of Sklenar as Batman in the DCU, even if they aren’t actively having conversations for the time being. Only time will tell if Sklenar is in serious consideration as the next cinematic take on the Caped Crusader.

Our Take On Brandon Sklenar’s Batman Casting Comments

Batman High Volume Batman in Spotlight DC

From hearing Sklenar’s take on potentially getting a chance to play Batman, it would be fun to at least see DC Studios keep him in consideration when they do eventually start their casting search. With Sklenar continuing to be a popular Batman fan-casting choice for the DCU, he will ideally at least get a chance to audition for DC Studios. Hopefully, DC Studios will have more updates to share sooner rather than later on what is going on with The Brave and The Bold movie, including who will actually star as the iconic Gotham City crime-fighter.

Drop opens in theaters on April 11.
