The Chronicle of Georgia is a monument located near the Tbilisi sea
Once a mysterious shadow on the horizon that not many people – least of all locals – ever thought of visiting, the Chronicles of Georgia is now one of Tbilisi’s most popular attractions.
It’s amazing to think that this obscure, unfinished sculpture created during the Soviet era has suddenly skyrocketed to the top of every Instagrammer’s hit list.

It might be touristy, but visiting the Chronicles is still one of my favourite things to do in Tbilisi – both for the monument itself, which is spectacular in scale and fascinating in detail, and for the incredible views of the city.
I have been half a dozen times now at different times of day and throughout the seasons – so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
In this guide, I’ll show you exactly how to visit the Chronicles of Georgia monument independently using public transport or as part of an organised tour.
I’ll also offer my best tips and point out a couple of ‘secrets’ that most tourists miss!
