Where To Watch Drop: Showtimes & Streaming Status

With the latest thrilling Blumhouse offering finally upon us, these are the ways to watch Meghann Fahy in Drop — both in theaters and on streaming. Directed by Christopher Landon of Happy Death Day fame, the new thriller has been making a name for itself since before release as one of SXSW 2025’s best movies. Fahy has been particularly hailed as a strong lead in many of Drop’s reviews, while the pacing and tone of the film have been compared to the works of Hitchcock.

The movie follows a widowed young woman named Violet, who lives with her son Toby and younger sister Jen. When she goes on a first date with a man named Henry, she suddenly starts receiving AirDrops on her phone making bizarre and sometimes lethal demands. She’s told that if she fails to do as ordered, people will die as a result, including her family at home. Critics felt this premise was executed well enough to justify Drop’s strong 89% Rotten Tomatoes score, but audiences will have to see it for themselves to decide.

Drop Releases In Theaters On April 11, 2025

Universal Is Beginning With An Exclusive Theatrical Release

Universal Pictures exclusively releases Drop in theaters beginning on April 11, 2025. As per usual with most major releases, this means that eager viewers will be able to see the film the Thursday night before at most mainstream theaters. The film, which runs 95 minutes long without trailers, has been rated PG-13 for strong language, violent content, Sєxual references, and suicide. This means that viewers too squeamish for Blumhouse’s horror movies won’t need to worry about gore, but viewers sensitive to content involving self-harm may wish to proceed with caution.

When Will Drop Release On Streaming?

Drop Will Stream On NBCUniversal’s Peacock

Because it’s being distributed by Universal Pictures, Drop will eventually stream on Peacock. There’s no confirmed date for the streaming release yet, and the fact that it’s a thriller produced by Blumhouse complicates the matter since Peacock’s general release timeline differs for horror movies compared to general films. Blumhouse’s Wolf Man took three months to stream on Peacock, as did Abigail. By contrast, Nosferatu hit streaming in less than two months. Averaging out their horror model to a 77-day release timeline puts Drop’s streaming release around June 23, 2025.

However, most movies take slightly longer to hit Peacock, and Drop may follow this model since it isn’t technically a horror movie. The Fall Guy, Twisters, and Wicked all took 119 days, which would extend Drop’s release timeline until July. Either way, Peacock’s roughly 91-day average release timeline suggests Drop will likely begin streaming between late June and early-to-mid July. Those able to keep their anticipation in check for that long can therefore consider streaming a viable option for home viewing.

When Will Drop Release On Digital?

Home Viewing Without Peacock May Not Take Long

Meghann Fahy holds a knife in Drop

New movies typically land on digital before they hit streaming services. While Universal’s timeline for digital release is prone to vary, the window is much smaller than it is with Peacock, varying from as little as 18 days for Wolf Man to 39 for Wicked. The average generally ranges between 20 and 27 days, so Drop will most likely receive its earliest home release in early-to-mid May. ᴀssuming there’s no overlap, the movie should barely be out of theaters before it’s available on PVOD to rent or buy in your own living room.
