Bob Odenkirk’s New Action Movie Sequel Just Made Its John Wick Comparisons Even Harder To Avoid

Nobody 2 is officially on the way, and while the first Nobody was already easy to compare to John Wick, the second one is even more so. 2021’s Nobody immediately drew a lot of comparisons to John Wick upon its release, with it being created by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad. Although Nobody and John Wick have no official in-universe connections, Nobody 2 has already made it a lot harder to disᴀssociate the two franchises.

Screen Rant is at CinemaCon 2025, and while all kinds of movies have been featured so far, Nobody 2 is one of the highlights. The first trailer for Nobody 2 was shown at CinemaCon 2025, and while the trailer hasn’t been released publicly yet, descriptions of the footage have. These descriptions make the highly-anticipated sequel seem like a worthy follow-up to the original film, although one moment does seem far too similar to John Wick.

Nobody 2’s Teased Hall Of Mirrors Scene Repeats One Of John Wick 2’s Biggest Action Moments

Making The Comparisons Even Easier

According to the Nobody 2 CinemaCon 2025 trailer, the film will see Bob Odenkirk’s Hutch Mansell go on vacation with his family, with the main Nobody characters spending time at an amusement park. While there, Hutch gets into a violent altercation, one that quickly spins out of control. One of the most interesting parts of the Nobody 2 trailer is an action scene that takes place in a hall of mirrors. Here is a full description of the trailer:

The footage begins with Bob Odenkirk in an elevator. He asks, “You guys have fun at the convention?” Then he starts fighting everyone in the elevator. We then see him with his family. They decide to go on a family trip to an amusement park. While there, someone bullies his daughter and slaps her on the back of the head. Odenkirk separates from his family, goes back into the park, and beats up the people who bullied his daughter. Because of that, the cops come and Odenkirk gets discovered. It turns out he’s in the middle of something nefarious going on. “Guys I’m not gonna fight ya. I’m on vacation,” he says to a group of thugs, who then attack him. There’s a whole action sequence in a hall of mirrors. “I told you I’m on f*cking vacation,” he exclaims as he beats someone up.

Although the hall of mirrors scene is cool, it is way too close to a mirror hallway fight scene from John Wick: Chapter 2. If Nobody 2 wants to stop the comparisons to John Wick, using one of the sequel’s best scenes in its sequel isn’t the way to go, as it makes Nobody 2 seem like it is retreading the same ground.

John Wick 2’s Hall Of Mirrors Scene Was Already An Incredibly Impressive Remake Of Enter The Dragon

Raising The Stakes For Nobody 2

Many fans of the John Wick franchise don’t know that John Wick: Chapter 2‘s mirror fight scene was actually a homage to a different action movie. John Wick: Chapter 2 was recreating a similar scene from the iconic martial arts movie Enter the Dragon, and it did so in a fantastic way.

This fact only raises the stakes for Nobody 2, as it not only has to live up to the John Wick: Chapter 2 scene, but also the original Enter the Dragon scene. If it manages to pull the mirror scene off, then this will be incredible. However, if it doesn’t, then many Nobody 2 fans will wonder why the sequel took the risk.
