Avengers: Doomsday revealed its cast in a live stream recently, but new comments from Marvel Cinematic Universe producer Kevin Feige have given some important context to the shared details. I was worried when the cast list was first revealed, as there were many surprising characters missing from Avengers: Doomsday. However, the inclusion of some of the more unexpected names helped to temper this disappointment. New comments, however, help to explain what may occur with some of these missing characters.
The cast for Avengers: Doomsday includes the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and Avengers, among others. The makeup of the team is especially compelling as the Avengers have only begun to come back together in Captain America: Brave New World. With characters from across the multiverse being brought together, and promises of crossover between multiple franchises, the new film already appears to be something special. New comments from Feige concerning the cast, including potential changes and updates, help to reiterate this point.
Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast Has Had Over 20 Actors Announced For It
Stars From Across The Marvel Multiverse Are Confirmed For The MCU Film
The confirmed cast for Avengers: Doomsday is astounding, featuring 27 names from across more than one Marvel universe. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor represents the original Avengers team, with Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America beside him. The main casts of both of Marvel’s upcoming 2025 releases are also accounted for, with the тιтular Fantastic Four and most of the Thunderbolts being among the cast list. This includes stars like Pedro Pascal and Florence Pugh.
Robert Downey Jr. is the biggest name in the film and was revealed to headline it last summer. It now seems that he will be an incredible threat that only the biggest teams in Marvel’s history will be able to take on. This explains why even the X-Men, brought over from Fox’s universe, which ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine made me believe had ended, will also return. With stars like Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart confirmed for the film, the cast is truly one of the most exciting that superhero films have ever seen.
Kevin Feige’s Latest Doomsday Comments Confirm There Are More Cast Members Yet To Come
Worries About Missing Marvel Characters May Be Premature
Many, including myself, were worried about the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which was missing some of the most popular Marvel stars and characters, including Captain Marvel, Hulk, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man. Fortunately, Kevin Feige addressed the Doomsday cast list at CinemaCon, where ScreenRant was in attendance, in a video message. In the video, Feige explained that “[w]e revealed many, not all” of the film’s cast. I will admit, this is a relief, and makes me even more hopeful for the upcoming film.
With so few Avengers, it seems hard to conceive of what could occur in Doomsday. The movie will clearly be a multiversal event that will see so many characters from throughout Marvel’s entire history coming together. However, I think it’s important that the Avengers team actually be well represented in the film. I’d guess that holding back some of the cast list is likely for creative reasons, and that many of the additional characters that will appear could be surprises within the film itself.
I’m So Excited To See Who Is Added To Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast Based On Every Character We Know Thus Far
Seeing Familiar Marvel Heroes Interact With Some Of These Characters Sounds Amazing
The cast for Doomsday is enormous, and may see some unusual story beats, which could explain how Benedict Cumberbatch’s recent comments have caused conflicting reports of his presence in the upcoming film. The story will clearly be multiversal, and I can’t wait to see who could appear alongside such legendary actors as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. Seeing their universes interact, no matter how it happens in the film, is a confusingly exciting promise.
There are so many names I’d like to see added to this cast list. I’d like to see Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk, and Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight, as well as the more obvious names like Brie Larson, Tom Holland, and Chris Pratt. Recent comments from Pratt suggest that he may actually be a part of the film, which makes all of this even more confusing. I can’t wait to see how the story of the film plays out, and how each of these beloved characters interact with one another.
Avengers: Doomsday is sure to be an enormous and unique entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I’m relieved that the full cast list has not yet been revealed. While the original announcement featured so many exciting names, I don’t know that it felt enough like the cast of an Avengers movie. Fortunately, more characters will certainly be revealed later. I have trust that Feige and the Russos know exactly what they are doing, and will give audiences a truly special entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
