The upcoming biblical epic film Zero A.D. is the unofficial follow-up to the surprise 2023 box office hit Sound of Freedom. Directed by Mexican filmmaker Alejandro Monteverde, Sound of Freedom became the 32nd top-grossing movie of 2023, grossing a worldwide box office total of roughly $250.6 million. Sound of Freedom, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, follows the chilling story of Jim Caviezel’s Tim Ballard, a government agent who goes to great lengths to investigate a child Sєx trafficking ring in Colombia.

Zero A.D. is one of several upcoming feature film productions from Angel Studios, who produced Sound of Freedom with Sante Fe Films. Since Sound of Freedom’s box office success, Angel Studios has made several other films, including After Death, Homestead, and Brave the Dark. Sound of Freedom is by far the highest-grossing movie made by Angel Studios but Zero A.D. – with its cast, director, and premise – may have the right ingredients to top it.

Jim Caveziel is confirmed for an unknown role in Zero A.D., which also features A-list actors such as Sam Worthington (Avatar), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and Gael Garcia Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle). It also shouldn’t be as controversial as Sound of Freedom was.
