Steve Carell & Succession Creator’s New HBO Movie Gets тιтle Reveal, Release Date & First Images

HBO unveils first images, release date, and тιтle for Jesse Armstrong’s upcoming feature film, Mountainhead. Set against the backdrop of snowy mountains, the film follows a group of billionaire friends who have gotten together in light of a rolling international crisis, with Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Ramy Youssef, and Cory Michael Smith starring as the core friend group.

Max took to their official X account with images and announced that the original film Mountainhead will arrive on May 31. With the tease of “one weekend to end them all,” the first of the three images appears to be a selfie of the four core cast dressed in matching snowsuits, while the other two tease some serious conversation going down indoors. What This Means For Mountainhead

Mountainhead Is A Strong Feature From Steve Carell And Jesse Armstrong

Mountainhead will mark Armstrong’s feature directorial debut and his first project since Succession wrapped in 2023. However, the director has already received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for the 2009 film, In The Loop, which he co-wrote with Armando Iannucci, Simon Blackwell, and Tony Roche, who serves as an executive producer for the upcoming HBO feature. The movie also marks Armstrong’s reunion with HBO following Succession.

With a script from Armstrong, Mountainhead again taps the world of the top 1%, but instead of focusing on the drama inside a wealthy family, the movie revolves around four friends who are of various ages. The first look images spark bromance as the four friends seem comfortable in each other’s company, but, at the same time, show a certain distance. The movie will mark a reunion between Carell and Schwartzman, who recently appeared in 2023’s Asteroid City.

Our Take On Jesse Armstrong And Steve Carell’s New Feature

It Appeals To Succession Fans

The Roys in Succession season 4, episode 9

It’ll be interesting to see how the four friends come together and what they are up to in a mansion atop a snowy mountain. A weekend is short, but time doesn’t seem to work the same way when four billionaires come together. For those who are interested in movies like Succession, Mountainhead is not one to miss, given the incredible cast and the filmmaker involved. Thankfully, it won’t take long since May is only just a month or so away.
