Forget A M3GAN 2.0 Dance Scene, I Truly Can’t Wait For The Sequel After Seeing This Scene

The 2022 sci-fi horror film M3GAN became a surprise hit with audiences, and in just a few months fans will finally be able to see M3GAN 2.0, which looks even more exciting because of one scene. M3GAN followed a software developer, Gemma, working to create an artificially intelligent doll to keep her young niece, Cady, company after the death of her parents, but things take a dark turn when M3GAN begins killing anyone who gets between her and Cady. While M3GAN‘s ending saw Cady and Gemma defeat M3GAN, the AI doll is now back to protect them in M3GAN 2.0.

Two months ago, Universal released the first teaser for M3GAN 2.0 along with information about the film’s plot, which will see Gemma resurrect M3GAN to protect humanity from an even more sinister AI robot named Amelia. Over the past several days, ScreenRant has been in attendance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where M3GAN 2.0‘s production company Blumhouse shared new footage during Universal’s presentation of upcoming films, and there is one scene that already looks set to give the sequel another viral moment.

M3GAN 2.0’s Wing Suit Scene Looks More Exciting Than Another Dance Sequence

A M3GAN Flight Scene Capitalizes On What Made The First Film So Good

While M3GAN 2.0‘s teaser trailer did feature the doll doing her iconic dance, implying that audiences could still see another dance scene in the new movie, the new footage from Blumhouse that has been presented at CinemaCon looks even more bizarre. The footage is not currently available online, but M3GAN 2.0‘s CinemaCon footage shows the updated M3GAN flying using a wing suit, fighting with Amelia, and rattling off one-liners like “Hold on to your vaginas.” This already seems to offer more of the chaos that made the original so entertaining.

The first M3GAN undoubtedly became more successful than anyone could have predicted, in large part thanks to the impression that it made on social media. In particular, the dance scene became a viral sensation for how unexpectedly hilarious and violent it was. M3GAN 2.0‘s full trailer is clearly already capitalizing on this, and I think that adding a scene of M3GAN flying has the ability to regain that attention. M3GAN flying is incredibly strange, in the best way possible, proving that the sequel has the potential to add to what made the first movie so fun.

What More Action Means For M3GAN 2.0

The Change Could Be Good, If It Is Done Right

From M3GAN 2.0‘s teaser and the new footage that has been revealed at CinemaCon, it appears like the movie will be going in a slightly different direction than the original. Rather than highlight the horror aspects, M3GAN 2.0 seems to be a lot more action and comedy-oriented. The comedic moments were undeniably an important part of the first movie, but there is still a delicate balance between having the perfect horror comedy and leaning too far into the jokes. Focusing more on action and humor than horror could work for M3GAN 2.0, but only if it is done right.

Additionally, the new footage teases that M3GAN may not be as completely helpful as she pretends to be and is still willing to double-cross Gemma.

M3GAN fighting another robot certainly sounds entertaining, and I personally think that those scenes will work if M3GAN still gets to have those iconic and ridiculously entertaining murder scenes at other points in the movie. Additionally, the new footage teases that M3GAN may not be as completely helpful as she pretends to be and is still willing to double-cross Gemma. Especially if the movie sees her revert to her former self after fighting Amelia, I think M3GAN 2.0 has the potential to be different enough from the original without losing what fans loved about it.
