Lilo & Sтιтch Clip Finds Lilo Trying To Bond With A Very Mischievous Sтιтch

A new clip from Disney’s live-action adaptation of Lilo & Sтιтch teases the playful dynamic between the two characters. The live-action film is an adaptation of the beloved animated feature that was originally released in 2002, following a lonely girl and her relationship with her new friend from space. Hitting hard with family themes from characters who became iconic, and considering Disney’s recent struggles with live-action remakes, the Lilo & Sтιтch remake has been closely scrutinized leading up to its theatrical release.

Disney has now shared a new Lilo & Sтιтch clip during their panel at CinemaCon, where ScreenRant was in attendance. In the clip, Lilo and Sтιтch share a playful moment that efficiently captures the characteristics of the characters. The scene seems to take place after Lilo’s fight during her hula class. Forced to come to Nani’s work, Lilo watches her new “dog” and it ends with her being sprayed in the face with a soda gun. Watch the full clip below:

What This Means For The Live-Action Lilo & Sтιтch

Will The Fanbase Ultimately Like The Changes?

The reactions to the first official trailer of the live-action Lilo & Sтιтch have unsurprisingly provided a wide spectrum of responses. Regarding the latter, fans like the nostalgia elicited by the trailer and the faithful recreation of iconic scenes, along with keeping Sтιтch’s cute and fluffy attributes in the rendering of his live-action design. Criticisms of the live-action changes so far focus on Jumba and Pleakley, especially the former, as Pleakley’s beloved disguises have seemingly been significantly altered.

Trailers do often withhold elements that can unfortunately be seen as more eccentric or risky, so Pleakley’s disguises may very well be in the feature-length live-action remake of Lilo & Sтιтch. As for the new clip, it reflects the opportunities to expand upon certain ideas and scenes live-action remakes provide. In the animated version, there is a water gun scene that arguably stands alone, but in the live-action remake, it seems like that scene was effectively woven into another without losing its charm, with Sтιтch acting as if he’s in a Western.

Our Take On The New Lilo & Sтιтch Clip

It Aligns With The Characters And Offers Insight Into How It’ll Expand On The Original

The clip does a solid job of capturing the essence of the characters who appear, like Nani’s role as the frustrated, responsible one, David’s comedic, yet still aware role in the film, Lilo’s dual nature of innocence and defiance, and finally Sтιтch’s affinity for whimsical chaos. With a few more polishing touches, the clip should be a strong, character-driven scene that’s ultimately, hopefully, part of a satisfying whole in Disney’s live-action remake of Lilo & Sтιтch.
