Screamboat’s Post-Credits Tease Explained & What It Sets Up

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Screamboat!Willie’s story isn’t over already, as Screamboat includes a major tease in the post-credits of what is to come. The 2025 horror movie revamps Disney’s iconic Steamboat Willie character as a terrifying mutated killer out for revenge. Screamboat‘s story revolves around Willie’s murderous rampage on a ferry one night that only leaves a few survivors. And while Screamboat isn’t part of the Twisted Childhood Universe, it’s horrific depiction of a Disney classic always seemed to be something that could continue beyond one film.

That likely left anyone watching Screamboat in theaters wondering if there was anything after the credits. Movies with franchise aspirations have commonly included credits scenes to help give audiences a taste of what will happen in future installments. Horror movies are not exempt from this practice. Something as big as 2018’s Halloween included an audible post-credits tease, while the cult hit Terrifier 2 included a legit post-credits scene. Although there is not a traditional full scene, Screamboat includes an important reveal in the post-credits that shouldn’t be missed.

Screamboat’s Post-Credits тιтle Card Confirms Willie & Minnie Will Return

Willie Won’t Be Alone Next Time

The Screamboat post-credits тιтle card is a simple way of teasing future plans, but that makes it no less important. Viewers are treated to a тιтle card that reads “Willie and Minnie will return.” Other franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, have made frequent use out of similar тιтle cards confirming characters’ returns in unspecified future installments. Now, there’s ᴀssurance that Willie and Minnie will be back.

That’s directly set up by what happens in Screamboat‘s ending. The ending delivers a twist that Willie survived a scissor stabbing to the head by Selena. There’s then a tease that a female creature like him is now with him. The movie stops short of fully revealing this new character or identifying her by name. And while the Disney lore that Screamboat is riffing on made the likelihood of it being Minnie high, the post-credits тιтle card confirms Minnie’s introduction and return.

What Screamboat’s Credits Tease Means For A Sequel

Minnie & Willie Will Join Forces In Screamboat 2

The impact of Screamboat‘s credits tease is significant. For starters, it’s a direct confirmation that there are plans for more installments in this universe. Screamboat 2 has not been officially announced at this point, but the intention of Steven LaMorte to turn this into a franchise is clear. It would not make sense to tell audiences that Willie and Minnie would be back if there was not confidence and plans in place for another movie that will pay off this tease.

Screamboat‘s post-credits тιтle card also solidified that Minnie will join Willie as the focal point of whatever comes next. That makes sense, considering Steamboat Willie is also where Minnie made her official debut. Minnie Mouse is a central, recurring character in most Mickey Mouse stories. Now that Disney’s iconic mouse has gotten the horror treatment in Screamboat, it only makes sense that Minnie is set for a bigger role next time.
