Wicked 2 CinemaCon Footage: Elphaba vs. Glinda As War Breaks Out In Oz

The highly anticipated Wicked: For Good has finally debuted its first footage, giving audiences an exciting glimpse at the second half of the two-part adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical. During CinemaCon 2025, Universal unveiled the teaser to attendees, offering an exciting first look at what’s to come in the sequel. Picking up after Wicked: Part One’s ending, the film will conclude the epic story of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande-Butera), diving into the final chapter of their tangled friendship and Oz’s ultimate fate. With the film set to release on November 26, anticipation has been steadily growing.

ScreenRant was in attendance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where the studio presented the exclusive Wicked: For Good teaser footage ahead of its Thanksgiving weekend release. The clip showcased thrilling new developments, setting the groundwork for what’s to come in the epic conclusion. This is what it featured:

The teaser begins with Glinda running outside, and seeing glᴀss cracking on the building. “Elphaba I know you’re out here. Just come in before the monkeys spot you.” Elphaha then appears behind her in the dark. “There’s no going back,” Elphaba says, “This is between the wizard and I.”

Fiyero now leads a squadron. “Our Wizard Lies,” Elphaba writes in the clouds as she flies in the sky. Glinda goes back to the tower/attic where she last saw Elphaba. We then see them together. Glinda leans on Elphaba’s shoulder and says, “Think of what we could do together.”

Fiyero aims a pistol at Elphaba, but quickly turns to aim at the Wizard, betraying him. “You’re the only friend I ever had,” Elphaba says. Glinda responds, “And I have so many friends.” Later… “I’m off to see the wizard,” Elphaba says as she uses her magic to pull her broom towards her, then she’s last shown flying away.

What This Means For Wicked: For Good

The Sequel Will Be An Emotional Conclusion

Although still not revealed to the public, this teaser gives viewers an exciting look at how director Jon M. Chu is embracing Oz’s visual extravaganza, with action-packed flying sequences, stunning magic displays, and the grandeur of Elphaba’s revolt. While the footage did not reveal too many details, it’s known the film will follow the second act of the Wicked musical. The footage hints at a darker, more intense chapter in the two-part Wicked adaptation, bringing Elphaba and Glinda’s story to a dramatic climax.

Unlike the first film, which focused heavily on Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship and Elphaba’s transformation into the Wicked Witch of the West, the second act of Wicked will take place largely during the events of The Wizard of Oz, this time told from Elphaba’s perspective. Wicked: For Good will delve into the battle for Oz, with Elphaba facing the consequences of her actions and the Wizard’s propaganda, while Glinda navigates her rise to power in the Emerald City.
