After The Hunt CinemaCon Trailer Description: “Not Everything Is Supposed To Make You Comfortable”

A trailer for After the Hunt has debuted at CinemaCon. The upcoming thriller movie is directed Luca Guadagnino and revolves around a college professor grappling with her past when a fellow professor faces a disturbing accusation. After the Hunt‘s cast includes Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny. The movie’s theatrical release is slated for October 10.

Now, an After the Hunt trailer has been shown during Amazon MGM’s Cinemacon panel, which was attended by ScreenRant. The footage highlights the relationships between Roberts, Garfield, and Edebiri’s characters and the disagreements they have due to their respective generations. Edebiri’s character grows concerned about Garfield, but Roberts’ character has her own secrets. Check out a description of the trailer below:

The teaser begins with Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Ayo Edebiri arguing about their generations at a social gathering. “You tend to choose people because they worship you,” a voice-over says as we see Roberts and Edebiri in various scenes, with Edebiri apparently admiring her. We then see them talking in private in the dark, with Edebiri expressing concern about Garfield’s character. Something happened in Edebiri’s apartment with them two, but Garfield’s character says it’s because she has a grievance of some sort. The rest of the trailer shows things unfolding, mostly focused on Roberts’ character falling apart. It ends with her saying, “Not everything is supposed to make you comfortable.”

What This Means For After The Hunt

Three Distinct Performances Lead To Shocking Secrets

The After the Hunt trailer gives a good sense of the dynamics between the three main characters, including Edebiri’s admiration for Roberts and the tension between Garfield and Edebiri, all while Roberts has her own crisis. The description of her unraveling shows the potential for this being another phenomenal Julia Roberts movie, as her character must confront the troubling past she has tried to put behind her. As her line suggests, how those secrets come out will be uncomfortable for everyone involved.

Our Take On The After The Hunt Trailer

Luca Guadagnino’s Streak Will Continue

Daniel Craig in Queer

After the largely positive reviews for Queer and Challengers, it sounds like Guadagnino’s streak is continuing and that he has directed another stellar movie. Between the secrets that Roberts’ character is haunted by, and the troubling things said about Garfield’s character, the story is poised to explore dark and difficult subject matter. Guadagnino has proven in the past that his movies are capable of handling these topics well, and After the Hunt will likely be no exception to this. I look forward to seeing the performances of Roberts, Edebiri, and Garfield as they tackle this challenging story.
