New footage from The Bride! has been unveiled. The movie, which is a reimagining of the 1935 Universal monster classic The Bride of Frankenstein, stars Jessie Buckley in the тιтle role opposite a star-studded cast that also includes Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Julianne Hough, John Magaro, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster. The upcoming The Bride!, which recently had its premiere date pushed back to March 6, 2026, was written and directed by two-time Oscar nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal.
ScreenRant was in attendance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where Warner Bros. Pictures debuted exclusive footage from Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!. The footage, which is not available online, offers some insight into the origin of the тιтle character, who is a human at the beginning of the presentation but falls down a flight of stairs and is resurrected by Frankenstein’s monster, who has sought the help of Dr. Euphronius in 1930s Chicago. We see the bride as a human die by falling down the stairs, and she asks, “Was I the same before the accident?” But someone says that it wasn’t an accident, and that they “did it” on purpose. We see Frankenstein’s monster revive the bride. This is followed by several sH๏τs – almost one-to-two per second – of brutal scenes with the monster and bride. One shows the monster killing someone in front of the bride by smashing him against the wall and then stepping on him. The trailer ends with the bride asking, “What’s my name? I can’t remember.” The final sH๏τ is of her in black-and-white, seemingly just a head in a glᴀss case, saying, “Monstrous.”
What This Means For The Bride!
The Presentation Offers Hope For The Project
The new footage offers a solid amount of insight into The Bride!, though plot details are still largely being kept under wraps. Primarily, it seems to show that the monster takes a more active role in the creation of his bride than he did in the original Universal monster movie. In addition to turning many aspects of the story on its head, his more direct participation will likely contribute to a new vein of social commentary in the upcoming movie.
In The Bride of Frankenstein, the monster’s (Boris Karloff) desire for a mate leads to him being used as a pawn in a battle of wills between Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger) and Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive).
Additionally, the fact that the footage was included in the presentation at all is likely a good sign for The Bride!. Its delay from its original release date of September 26, 2025, came amid reports that recent test screenings had not gone well. However, not enough time has pᴀssed between then and the time of writing for substantial reshoots to have taken place, which would seem to imply that the studio’s confidence in the Christian Bale movie is likely more than might otherwise be expected, as they are have most likely shared footage from the original cut.

On top of its deeper implications, the footage from The Bride! that was screened at CinemaCon offers some insight into how the movie will operate as a horror offering. On top of the other aspects revealed by the presentation, it seems to be chock-full of brutal, intense moments that lean in on the body horror inherent in bringing a sтιтched-together corpse back to life. This could help it reach the broadest horror audience possible, as it embraces multiple aspects of the genre at once.
