Netflix’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Sequel Means We Are Getting Quentin Tarantino’s Scrapped 10th Movie After All

Netflix is developing a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, indicating we’ll be seeing Quentin Tarantino’s scrapped 10th movie after all. The announcement regarding a Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel directed by David Fincher came as a shock, especially given that it was made on April Fools’ Day. However, this is not a joke. Some of David Fincher’s best movies star Brad Pitt, and the Fight Club and Se7en actor/director duo will reunite for a revisit of Pitt’s Oscar-winning role.

The planned Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel may be directed by Fincher, but the script has still been penned by Quentin Tarantino. Since the release of the original 2019 movie, movie fans have been anxiously awaiting Tarantino’s 10th film, which he’s loudly made clear will be his last. The Pulp Fiction director intends to end his career on a high note, establishing an impeccable oeuvre that will cement him as one of the most talented and prolific filmmakers of his generation.

Reports Suggest Netflix’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Sequel Is Tarantino’s Scrapped 10th Movie

David Fincher Was Handed “The Movie Critic” Script

According to reports, the Netflix Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel was the film that had been rumored to be Tarantino’s 10th, which was going by the name “The Movie Critic.” The project was announced in 2022, and Brad Pitt’s role was announced in 2024. It was never made clear that the project was related to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as Pitt was establishing a reputation as one of Tarantino’s go-to actors, with this expected to be his third collaboration.

This won’t be the first time a great director has worked on a script written by Tarantino. He wrote True Romance (Tony Scott) and Natural Born Killers (Oliver Stone), though these projects were early in his career, and he’s since had mixed reactions to both тιтles. With David Fincher directing the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel and Brad Pitt involved, Tarantino could be more involved, though Fincher will likely want to craft his own spin on the world his colleague created.

Why Quentin Tarantino Didn’t Move Forward With The Movie Critic

Tarantino Didn’t Think The Movie Critic Was Right For His Final Film

The primary reason why Quentin Tarantino seemed to have scrapped The Movie Critic was his desire of “going out on top.” Tarantino has been set on his 10th film being a positive sendoff to an ultimately monumental career, and he may have decided that this story just wasn’t going to cut it. It’s worth noting that this doesn’t mean the script isn’t good; it just wasn’t what he was looking for as his farewell film. If David Fincher is interested in working on the Once Upon a Time in America sequel, there’s probably a good reason.
