The Beatles: First Release Date For All Four Movies Revealed After “First Bingeable Theatrical Experience” Hyped By Director Sam Mendes

The first release date for all four of The Beatles movies have been revealed after director Sam Mendes hyped the “first bingeable theatrical experience.” Mendes’ upcoming The Beatles biopics will tell the story of the famous band across four different perspectives, with every movie happening through the eyes of a different band member. There will be a movie from the perspective of John Lennon (Harris Dickinson), Paul McCartney (Paul Mescal), Ringo Starr (Barry Keoghan), and George Harrison (Joseph Quinn), highlighting their shared history in a unique, cinematic fashion.

Now, Sony Pictures has revealed all four of The Beatles movies directed by Mendes, called The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, will be released in theaters in Canada on April 7, 2028. This announcement comes after an image featuring the four leading actors as the band members was revealed, alongside the director hyping up the movie as the “first bingeable theatrical experience.” As of writing, there is no confirmation yet as to when the movies will be released in other places around the world.

What The Beatles’ Four-Film Release Means For The Movies

They’ll Be Providing A Key Look At The Famous Band

The Beatles movies will follow the history of the band based on the personal experiences of its members, offering different context depending on who holds the main character mantle. The movies coming out on the same day emphasize this point, as it offers every possible angle of their history from all sides right away. It also helps the project stand out from even the best musical biopics, as it offers in-depth exploration of every member of the band, from its formation, through when it all fell apart.

[T]he various perspectives of all its members offers plenty of different choices, either watching one movie to get the general idea, or each movie separately to see the full scope of the story.

Given the amount of time needed to develop multiple movies to release on the same day, it’s not surprising to hear the movies aren’t going to come out for at least another three years. Since this is only its confirmed release in Canada, the date could be different for other global territories. However, the lengthy amount of time it will take to develop indicates its far-off release will apply to other locations as well. Since The Beatles movies often emphasize just one element of their career, the release date signifies the huge undertaking Mendes has with his newest project.

Our Take On The Beatles Movies’ Same-Day Release In Canada

A Risky Move That Could Pay Off

The Beatles Let It Be Remastered Doc 2

The idea of releasing four movies in theaters at the same time that all connect to one another is a major risk, especially when they’ll all be telling the same story about the same band. However, the various perspectives of all its members offers plenty of different choices, either watching one movie to get the general idea, or each movie separately to see the full scope of the story. The Beatles‘ four movies might have a risky release plan, but it’s something that could pay off in the long run.
