Sentry’s full Thunderbolts* costume has been officially unveiled by Hasbro with a glimpse at the MCU villain’s Marvel Legends action figure. The real idenтιтy of Lewis Pullman’s “Bob” character in Thunderbolts* has been kept a secret by Marvel Studios, but it’s clear that the Top Gun: Maverick actor is playing Robert Reynolds a.k.a. Sentry. As Sentry, the otherwise regular human Robert Reynolds acquires a wide variety of superpowers that make him one of the strongest characters in the whole Marvel universe. At this point in the MCU’s timeline, Lewis Pullman’s Sentry may be the most powerful character in the MCU’s main universe.
Thunderbolts*‘ Sentry action figure made an appearance during Hasbro Pulse‘s 2025 Marvel Legends Fan Stream, revealing Lewis Pullman’s MCU villain in his full costume. Sentry’s Thunderbolts* suit looks quite faithful to the source material — bright yellow, with a blue cape, blue boots, and a big belt buckle with an “S” in the middle. Lewis Pullman’s “Bob” also looks much more muscular in his Sentry form, just like Robert Reynolds does in the comics. Check out Sentry’s reveal below (at the 16:13 mark):
How Sentry’s Live-Action MCU Costume Compares To Marvel Comics
Sentry’s Costume Gets Modernized For The MCU
Sentry’s MCU costume is remarkably faithful to its classic comic book costume due to its vibrant color and generally simple design. However, Sentry’s Thunderbolts* costume displays some extra lines in its torso, legs, and waist areas. Similarly to Wolverine’s classic yellow-and-blue suit from ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, the additional blue and yellow lines in Sentry’s MCU suit break up each section in order to give the character’s muscular body more definition. The shape of the collar, gloves, belt, and boots also resembles that of many other superhero costumes, and could now be called a staple of MCU costume design.
Sentry’s costume has remained pretty consistent throughout his twenty-five-year comic book history, and it has always been rather simple: a yellow jumpsuit with a dark blue cape and blue boots, plus a big blue belt. It would have been easy for Marvel Studios to make significant changes to Sentry’s MCU look in order to ground him in reality, but Thunderbolts* doesn’t stray too far from the comics and respects the character’s comic book roots. Sentry’s suit does look a little too similar to other MCU characters’ costumes, but this may be explained by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s efforts to make Sentry the world’s next (and only) Avenger.
Our Take On Sentry’s Live-Action MCU Costume
Sentry’s Costume Is A Proper Modernization Of The Character’s Comic Book Look
The additional lines on Sentry’s Thunderbolts* suit might be a disappointing detail for those who dislike the MCU’s overdesigned costumes. However, Sentry’s bright yellow MCU suit symbolizes a huge step forward in superhero costume design. Wolverine and Sentry’s MCU costumes would have seemed impossible to translate to live-action only a decade ago. Had Sentry appeared in a movie ten to fifteen years ago, he likely would have worn a dark brown tactical outfit with little resemblance to his classic suit. Fortunately, Marvel Studios has doubled down on its characters’ extravagant nature and taken a lighter, more faithful approach to their physical appearances.
