Billy Bryk and Finn Wolfhard’s slasher horror comedy movie Hell of a Summer will be hitting theaters later this week. Following a classic slasher premise of camp counselors evading a masked killer at a summer camp, Hell of A Summer marks the feature film directorial debut for both Bryk and Wolfhard, the latter of whom is known best for his acting roles in Stranger Things, It, and the recent installments of the Ghostbusters franchise. Bryk and Wolfhard have appeared in several feature films together, including Saturday Night and When You Finish Saving the World.

Hell of a Summer features an ensemble cast led by Wolfhard’s Chris and Bryk’s Bobby. The cast also includes Fred Hechinger (Gladiator II) as Jason, Abby Quinn (Knock at the Cabin) as Claire, Pardis Saremi (Death and Other Details) as Demi, and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Warfare) as Mike. Hell of a Summer premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2023, and will be distributed by Neon. The film was sH๏τ entirely in Ontario, Canada. Hell of a Summer currently has a “Rotten” score of 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving critical praise for being campy and fun while also receiving criticism for its shallow execution of an overdone premise.

When Will Hell Of A Summer Release On Streaming?

It Could Hit Hulu By The End Of Summer 2025

Based on Neon’s multi-year exclusive deal with Hulu, Hell of a Summer is expected to stream on Hulu at some point later this year. Depending on the popularity and box office success of Hell of a Summer following its early April theatrical release, the film could arrive on Hulu sometime this summer, potentially in August or September 2025. Neon’s highest-grossing film in North America, the Nicolas Cage horror Longlegs, took six months to go from theaters to streaming on Hulu. Hopefully, Hulu subscribers won’t have to wait that long for Hell of a Summer.

When Will Hell Of A Summer Release On Digital?

Potentially By The End Of April 2025

If Hell of a Summer underperforms at the box office, the film could be made available to rent or purchase on at-home VOD by the end of April 2025. Wolfhard and company should fill some seats with fans of campy horror films and Stranger Things but the mixed reviews out of 2023’s Toronto Film Festival raise early concerns about Hell of a Summer’s box office numbers. Films like these are typically made on a relatively cheap budget, placing Hell of a Summer in a fairly good position to become the first unexpected box office hit of Spring 2025.
