Sony has finally revealed when Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released. One of the Marvel franchises that is getting close to its end is Spider-Verse, while the world has been waiting for Miles Morales’ trilogy finale. Following a delay from its initial 2024 date, Sony is closer than ever to finally getting Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse released, as the creative team is working hard on the third and final installment.
At this year’s CinemaCon, where ScreenRant is in attendance, Sony officially confirmed that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be hitting theaters on June 4, 2027. A brief clip was also shown during the announcement:
Lots of voiceovers and snippets from the previous film — Miles’ dad, uncle, mother, Gwen. It’s a stylistic opening of clips from previous films in a very colorful montage. Miles says, “Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go…I’mma do my own thing.”
The Spider-Verse 3 sizzle preview focuses on Miles and Gwen as they are riding a motorcycle. The Spot is seen sucking colors from the environments, with the footage also confirming that he is now able to also transform himself into an arachnid-like being, showing him crawling against the web-slingers. Miles and his Earth-42 counterpart, Miles G. Morales aka The Prowler, are working together, with the preview teasing more about their dynamic in the movie. The two versions of Miles are also teaming up with Uncle Aaron.
However, that is not all, as Christopher Miller, one of the main producers and writers of the Spider-Verse trilogy, also took to X to celebrate the news by revealing new images from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Check them out below:
The Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse images include both versions of Miles in their respective costumes, and the main version of the Marvel icon together with Gwen Stacy. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, based on a script by Miller, Phil Lord, and David Callaham.
What Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse’s Release Date Means
With Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse officially being slotted for June 2027, it confirms that Sony is confident enough that they will have production finished on the third film by that time. With the unique animation style that comes with the Spider-Verse movies, the 2027 date makes perfect sense for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Not only will it give the animation team time to properly master their product, but with theories that there may also be live-action elements in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the timetable is adding up.
However, while studios have yet to unveil their full 2027 releases, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be coming out only a month after Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars, another mᴀssive Marvel multiverse-based story. As of right now, Avengers: Secret Wars is Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’s biggest compeтιтion, though more movies will be slated in the coming months. While likely not intentional, May and June 2027 will both see the end of two mᴀssive Marvel multiverse arcs.
Our Take On Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse’s Release Date
While it may be two years until it comes out, it’s great to finally see Sony have Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse back on the release schedule, especially after how Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended on its cliffhanger. The bigger question now, however, is what they have in store for this final movie, as there are a lot of ways that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse can finish the epic Spider-Verse saga. With the countdown officially ticking, more glimpses of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will hopefully be revealed later in 2025.
