Scheduling a sequel one year after its predecessor is virtually unheard of. Sony opened a slot for an unтιтled Marvel movie in 2025 but soon removed it from its schedule.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse remained without any major release date updates for over a year. In December 2024, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse‘s directors, writers, and producers were officially confirmed. Unlike most animated projects, the Spider-Verse movies employ dozens of animation styles simultaneously — each of them requiring intricate attention to detail and their own tailor-made approach to help them coexist with the others.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had the largest animation crew in movie history, with more than a thousand animators working on the movie’s various animation styles and larger-than-life action scenes. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is aiming to raise the bar even further, meaning that it may have an even bigger crew and even more ambitious sequences than Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
