Where To Watch The Last Exorcism & The Last Exorcism 2

The Last Exorcism and its sequel, The Last Exorcism Part II, are very different movies, but both deal with demonic horror in unique ways. The 2010 original movie follows the Blair Witch Project-inspired found-footage format, while the sequel opts for a more traditional approach to its supernatural-meets-psychological horror content. Viewers should still understand the first movie before diving into its sequel despite the filmmaking shift. In The Last Exorcism, an evangelical minister, Cotton Marcus, agrees to have his final exorcism (and fraud) captured on film.

However, the in-movie documentary takes a turn when Nell Sweetzer is possessed by the powerful demon Abalam. Nell’s signs of possession become harder to deny throughout the film, forcing a jaded Marcus to reexamine his faith. Meanwhile, in The Last Exorcism 2, Nell tries to start fresh after her horrifying first-film experiences, but the demon Abalam has other plans. The chilling sequel might not have had the mᴀssive box-office draw of the first Last Exorcism movie, though it’s still worth checking out for fans of the genre.

The Last Exorcism stars Patrick Fabian as Cotton Marcus, a reverend from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who has performed fake exorcisms since he lost his faith after the birth of his disabled son.
