Caterina Ferioloi’s Pᴀssionate Performance In The Tearsmith Made Me Fall In Love With Romance Movies All Over Again — & I Can’t Wait To See What’s Next For The Italian Actress

Caterina Ferioli made her acting debut in Netflix’s The Tearsmith, which gave me an even greater appreciation for romance movies, as well as excitement to see what she will continue to do in her career. Based on the novel of the same name by author Erin Doom, which was originally published on Wattpad before it became a movie, The Tearsmith explores two teenage orphans who are adopted by the same family, and begin to develop romantic feelings for each other despite being completely different in their views and experiences.

The Tearsmith‘s cast of characters are played by various Italian actors, with many of them only working in Italian productions. This gives viewers not familiar with the Italian film industry an opportunity to see the talent the country produces in terms of actors. One particular standout in The Tearsmith is Caterina Ferioli, who made her debut, and showed how incredible she is in the romance movie.

Caterina Ferioli And Her Role In The Tearsmith

She Plays An Orphaned Teenager

Caterina Ferioli plays Nica Dover in The Tearsmith, a girl who lost both of her parents in a car accident at the age of eight, who ends up being taken to the strict Sunnycreek Orphanage. Her painful past has made her kind, while another orphan, Rigel Wilde, is full of anger. The two of them are adopted by the same family, and their bond grows, as they evolve as characters. Despite being her first role, Caterina Ferioli is incredible as Nica Dover, giving her a lot of nuance while emphatically exploring the character’s pain throughout.

Her performance continues to be more impressive after she revealed to Cosmopolitan that she had never read The Tearsmith novel and was going in completely blind. Of course, she read the book after she got the part, stating:

When I did the audition I didn’t know anything about the phenomenon behind the book, I went in a bit blind. But it went well! But my mother knew it, she was convinced I would like it and she suggested I read it. Then I actually devoured it once I got the part along with the script.

Ferioli’s Tumultous Shooting Experience

Caterina Ferioli’s Working Relationship With Her Co-Star Went Through Ups-And-Downs

Sometimes movie and TV sets could lead to some major disagreements and even turn relationships between co-workers sour if they find it hard to work together. For Caterina Ferioli, this was the case with her co-star Simone Baldᴀsseroni, as the two of them had a tumultuous time working together. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Caterina Ferioli opened up about working alongside Simon Baldᴀsseroni and the tension that was between them every once in a while, stating:

We spent a lot of time together with him, we share many scenes, we were attached 15 hours a day on set and, working on the characters, we found our balance. There were also moments of hatred, we argued, but we also loved each other very much. In short, it was intense.

She also talked about her character’s relationship and history with Simone Baldᴀsseroni’s Rigel, and how the two of them were able to find that spark between them in the film. Caterina Ferioli also talked about whether Rigel is the type of guy she would date in real life, stating:

Nica is linked to him above all because they have a common history, they grew up together in an orphanage. In fact, at the beginning it’s as if they were brothers. In real life I don’t know if a guy like Rigel would attract me. Of course, if I felt it was worth it I would give myself. But it’s not always easy to help those who don’t want to be saved.

Caterina Ferioli After The Tearsmith

She Starred In An Incredible Drama Series

Caterina Ferioli as Nica Dover in The Tearsmith

Caterina Ferioli was originally a model who became an actress and her first professional acting role was in The Tearsmith, making her performance all the more impressive. After The Tearsmith, Caterina Feriolo starred in the TV series, Belcanto, early in 2025, an incredible drama series that focuses on a mother and her two daughters bound together by their pᴀssion for music and desire for a better life.

Belcanto is an Italian drama series which could possibly get a second season if it ends up being successful overall.

Outside Belcanto and The Tearsmith, Caterina Ferioli doesn’t seem to have any other upcoming projects on the horizon yet, but her stunning performances in both roles have shown she has the talent to make a name for herself in the film and television industry. Her first role in The Tearsmith felt like the turning point for her in the entertainment industry, and it will be exciting to see her career unfold in the upcoming years.
