Following the success of some of the other well-received live-action adaptations, Disney has finally released its new version of Snow White, but the reception has been much more mixed. The 2025 Snow White has faced controversies and production troubles from the start, already giving the movie bad press leading up to its release. As a result, Snow White‘s opening weekend fell far below expectations, bringing in only $87.3 million worldwide and providing little to no chance for Disney to make a profit at this point in time.
While reviews of Snow White have identified positive aspects of the film, particularly Rachel Zegler’s talent as Snow White, the movie has failed to win people over. In contrast to Zegler, Gal Gadot’s performance as the Evil Queen has largely not been looked upon favorably. Disney movies can often be seen as a pretty sure bet for success since they have broad audiences who are already familiar with the material, but it seems Snow White has joined the ranks of Gadot’s previous Rotten movies instead, continuing a grim career trend.
Snow White Is Another Rotten Movie For Gal Gadot During A Pretty Awful Rotten Tomatoes Stretch
The New Disney Adaptation Has Faced Criticisms
Gal Gadot has been in multiple big-name movies in recent years, but many of them have received Rotten scores from Rotten Tomatoes. The same is now true for 2025’s Snow White, which currently holds a 42% critical approval rating on the site. While some critics pointed out that Zegler deserves better than what she is given with Snow White, critics are more divided on Gadot’s performance as the Evil Queen and almost altogether negative about the animated dwarfs that have faced previous controversy.
At their kindest, critics of the film have argued that Gadot’s character was not written with enough depth for her to truly make much of the Evil Queen. More commonly, though, reviewers of the film are completely negative about the role and the movie as a whole. Indeed, critic Nadira Goffe from Slate argued that Gadot’s portrayal of the Evil Queen was “easily the biggest failure of the movie” and other reviews echoed similar sentiments.

Unfortunately for Gadot, the reception of Snow White matches several of her most recent movies. Following her 93% success with Wonder Woman in 2017, Gadot has struggled to maintain that same level of critical success. Of the nine movies that Gadot has been in since Wonder Woman, five have been Rotten. While movies like Ralph Breaks the Internet, Between Two Ferns: The Movie, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League have been fairly successful with critics, the original theatrical version of Justice League, Red Notice, and Heart of Stone have not, all being below 40% approval.
Wonder Woman Remains Gal Gadot’s Best Movie On Rotten Tomatoes By A Good Margin
Gadot’s Superhero Movie Has Been Her Most Successful
Gal Gadot’s 2017 superhero movie, Wonder Woman, has remained by far her most well-received movie in the eight years since its release. While she has played the character in both versions of Justice League and in Wonder Woman 1984 and had previously appeared as the character in 2016’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, all of those films have failed to surpᴀss the character’s first stand-alone movie. At the time that Wonder Woman was released, it was a mᴀssive deal to have a woman-led superhero movie, so it is unsurprising that it fared so well.
Wonder Woman was also a box office success, grossing $824 million on a budget of $149 million (via Box Office Mojo). In addition to Wonder Woman‘s 93% critical approval rating, it also holds an 83% audience approval rating, surpᴀssing Gadot’s next closest movie on both fronts. Following the success of her 2017 movie, Gal Gadot lent her voice to Ralph Breaks the Internet in 2018. While the animated movie was also met with critical and commercial success, it still failed to top Wonder Woman.
Across the board, Gal Gadot’s movies are much higher rated among audiences than critics, including Snow White, which has more than a 30% difference between the two.
Interestingly, despite the low critics scores of several of Gal Gadot’s recent movies, her work has fared much better with audiences. Wonder Woman may still be her best work to date, but the audience scores for Red Notice and Zack Snyder’s Justice League are both higher. Across the board, Gal Gadot’s movies are much higher rated among audiences than critics, including Snow White, which has more than a 30% difference between the two. This may be due to many of her roles relying on exciting action sequences or IP that audiences are already familiar with.
Several Of Gal Gadot’s Pre-Wonder Woman Movies Are Even Worse Than Snow White
Many Of Her Early Movies Were Not Well Received Either
Though Snow White is sitting at a pretty rough 42% approval rating right now, several of Gal Gadot’s pre-Wonder Woman films are actually rated even lower. Gadot made her movie debut in 2009 in Fast & Furious as Gisele Yashar, a character whom she reprised in Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, and Furious 7. While the later films in the series are rated quite highly, Gadot’s debut film sits at a 29% critical approval rating. Likewise, her initial appearance as Wonder Woman in Batman V. Superman has received the same score.
Outside of her appearances in some of the Fast and Furious films, all of Gal Gadot’s pre-Wonder Woman movies have received Rotten scores on Rotten Tomatoes.
Outside of her appearances in some of the Fast and Furious films, all of Gal Gadot’s pre-Wonder Woman movies have received Rotten scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Though some of her films sit around the 50% mark, showing that there is some disagreement among critics and some positive aspects of the movies, Gadot’s lowest, Keeping Up With the Joneses, holds a lowly 20% approval rating.
Why The Majority Of Gal Gadot’s Movies Are Rotten On Rotten Tomatoes
Critics Are Divided On The Star’s Movies
The current critical reception of Snow White is simply one part of a larger career trend for the actor, though there are always numerous reasons why a movie might not be well-received. Especially in her earlier movies where her roles were fairly minor, Gal Gadot herself is not really an object of criticism, which is largely aimed at the predictability of movies like Fast & Furious or Knight and Day on the whole. Likewise, Batman V. Superman and the first version of Justice League faced issues and criticisms beyond the individual actors.
However, looking at Gadot’s more recent leading roles, many of the criticisms center on the movies feeling flat. Even for those that are pure action movies, the characters and plots often seem too thin to really grab audience attention. Some critics have praised Gadot in various roles, but the majority of critics have been left underwhelmed by her performances. Whether this criticism that runs throughout Gadot’s career is actually due to Gadot’s skills as an actor or just a symptom of bad writing or direction is not always clear, but it seems Snow White is not the movie to break her bad luck streak yet.
