Don’t Worry, Paul Rudd’s New A24 Movie Disappointment Will Be Easily Replaced In 2 Months

Death of a Unicorn is Paul Rudd’s new A24 movie disappointment, but don’t worry, because he has the perfect replacement coming in only two months. Death of a Unicorn was one of the most anticipated movies of 2025 for many, with its star-studded cast and unique premise getting a lot of viewers excited for it. However, the movie has turned out to be a bit of a critical disappointment, with Death of a Unicorn not performing nearly as well as many A24 fans had hoped. Luckily, Paul Rudd’s next movie won’t be long after Death of a Unicorn.

2025’s Death of a Unicorn is a new fantasy comedy film from A24, with it telling the story of a father and daughter who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn with their car. The duo decides to hide the animal in the back of their car, with them continuing their drive to the home of the wealthy head of a medical company. Upon arriving, the unicorn is discovered to have all kinds of magical medical properties. However, things go horribly wrong when the cast of Death of a Unicorn realizes the horrifying reality about unicorns.

Paul Rudd Has Another A24 Movie Releasing 2 Months After Death Of A Unicorn

Friendship Comes Out In May 2025

Death of a Unicorn isn’t the only A24 movie that Paul Rudd will be starring in in 2025, as he has another one releasing only two months from now. A24’s Friendship is the next movie that Paul Rudd will appear in, with it releasing on May 23, 2025. The movie stars Paul Rudd alongside I Think You Should Leave‘s Tim Robinson, with the film bringing Robinson’s unhinged style of comedy to a narrative feature film. Friendship is highly anticipated by fans of A24, I Think You Should Leave, and dark comedy, and it will probably be better than Death of a Unicorn.

Friendship tells the story of Tim Robinson’s Craig Waterman, a reclusive weirdo who finally makes friends with his charasmatic neighbor, Paul Rudd’s Austin Carmichael. Things are going great for Craig as he is accepted into Austin’s friend group, with the Friendship trailer showing that Craig is having the time of his life. However, this all changes when Austin tells Craig that he doesn’t think Craig is a great fit for the friend group. This news causes Craig to spiral, with him going on a violent and impulsive spree in order to get revenge on his former friends.

Friendship Is Already Considered One Of Paul Rudd’s Best Movies

It Is His Third Highest-Rated Movie On Rotten Tomatoes

While Death of a Unicorn was disappointing, Friendship will probably be a lot better. Friendship is already considered one of Paul Rudd’s best movies, with it already being the actor’s third highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Avengers: Endgame. The film has 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it has been constantly talked about since the movie’s 2024 premiere. It is one of the most anticipated movies of 2025 for many, with all kinds of viewers eagerly anticipating Friendship‘s May 2025 release date.

Friendship has been especially praised for its dark comedy, with it being compared favorably to the Jim Carrey classic The Cable Guy. Friendship‘s off-kilter humor and hilarious performances lead to it being a truly unique experience, one that is enhanced by the involvement of Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson. While it is impossible to say if Friendship‘s reputation will hold up when it gets a wide release, the film is being praised as of now.

Friendship Could Be Bigger For Paul Rudd Than Death Of A Unicorn

Maybe Even At The Box Office

As it turns out, Friendship has the opportunity to be bigger for Paul Rudd than Death of a Unicorn. Death of a Unicorn has received incredibly mixed reviews, meaning that Friendship will undoubtedly be a bigger critical success. Paul Rudd’s performance in Friendship seems to be a lot more challenging than his fairly straight forward character in Death of a Unicorn. Thus, if he is going to get accolades for either film, it will be Friendship.

Due to Death of a Unicorn‘s recent release, it is impossible to say how Friendship will compare to it at the box office. Death of a Unicorn is undoubtedly the more marketable film thanks to its high concept. However, Friendship could be helped out by its word of mouth and the involvement of Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson, meaning that it could outshine Death of a Unicorn.
