These 3 SIth & Dark Side Relics Are Powerful Enough To Threaten The Entire Star Wars Galaxy

According to Palpatine, the dark side is a pathway to many abilities some would consider unnatural – and these x dark side relics prove he’s right in the Star Wars galaxy. We’re used to the idea of living beings wielding the Force, but both the dark and light sides of the Force can be imbued in physical objects. We’ve even seen some of them in the movies; the Sith Wayfinder is believed to be one of the oldest Sith relics in existence.

According to Claudia Gray’s Into The Dark, the Jedi have identified three types of Force artifacts. As one, Reath Silas, explained:

“The Jedi elders have identified three main kinds of Force artifacts,” he said to the ᴀssembled group in the comm area. “There are artifacts that contain certain memories or even personalities of past Force users. There are artifacts that enhance a Jedi’s ability to use the Force. And then there are artifacts that hinder or confound that ability – Force dampeners, you could call them.”

Most of these sound fairly basic. But some are so powerful they could threaten the entire galaxy.

The Echo Stones

Powerful Enough To Allow Anyone Access To The Force

Lady Angcord presents The Echo Stone to the Jedi in Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures - Quest of the Jedi

We still don’t know much about the Echo Stones. They appear to come from a planet rich in the Force, one known only as Planet X, and they amplify the Force to an incredible degree – to the extent they can allow non-Force-sensitives access to the Force. Unfortunately, this seems to twist and distort the Force, ultimately tearing entire planets apart when it is overused. The Echo Stones were sought by one of the earliest Sith, Darth Ravi, and they were hidden across the galaxy.

They resurfaced during the High Republic Era, having been forged into an artifact that allowed the Nihil leader Marchion Ro to control Force predators known as the Nameless. The Nameless drain the Force itself from even the most powerful Jedi, so just the ability to control them is a valuable one for anyone opposed to the Jedi. We’ll likely find out the fate of the Echo Stones later this year, in Charles Soule’s upcoming novel Trials of the Jedi.

The Mask Of Darth Momin

One Of The Most Dangerous Sith Lords Can Still Return

You may be surprised to learn that Palpatine’s greatest fear was not the return of the Jedi – but that of the Sith. He feared the very idea of an ancient Sith Lord returning to undermine his rule, and went to any lengths to crush it. That makes it rather surprising he didn’t go to greater lengths to destroy the mask of Darth Momin, which contained the spirit of a Sith heretic. Anyone who placed the mask of Darth Momin on their head would be possessed by him.

To be fair, there’s likely a reason: Palpatine likely considered the mask too valuable. Darth Momin’s mask seems to have taught him the Sith power of essence transfer, through which he hoped to achieve immortality by transferring his body into a clone. Even more disturbingly, Momin was a Sith architect who learned how to manipulate the power of Force vergences; he created Vader’s tower at Mustafar, which could literally tear apart gateways through the Force itself.

Darth Vader demonstrated utter contempt for the ancient Sith, leaving the mask of Darth Momin dumped in the Sith shrine at the bottom of his fortress.

The Muur Talisman

Star Wars’ Zombie Horde

The Muur Talisman in Star Wars

Who can forget the Muur Talisman, one of the most terrifying dark side relics in Star Wars Legends? Crafted long ago by the Sith Lord Sorzus Syn in honor of Lord Karness Muur, it could turn others into mindless thralls – zombies by any other name. Any non-Force-sensitive touched by the Muur Talisman is transformed into one of these “rakghouls,” while a Force-sensitive could use it to transform anyone in the area. Worse still, said Force-sensitive would be able to control the rakghouls.

Imagine it: a mindless army under the total control of a single person. It’s easy to see why the ancient Sith coveted the Muur Talisman, and why the Jedi feared it. Any Jedi who came into contact with the Muur Talisman risked being corrupted. Even more disturbingly, any Jedi or Sith who wore it would be granted the coveted prize of immortality – no longer aging. This is truly one of the most terrifying relics in Star Wars history, and it is not to be underestimated.
