New pH๏τos of Zendaya from the set of The Odyssey have prompted speculation that she will be playing a different role in the film than what many fans first predicted. It was previously thought that Zendaya might play Athena in The Odyssey, but that had not been confirmed when the new pH๏τos raised the possibility of her instead playing Nausicaa. This is due to the fact that the images show Zendaya wearing a white dress similar to artistic depictions of the character Nausicaa, the daughter of King Alcinous and Queen Arete, who ᴀssists Odysseus after he’s been shipwrecked.

Another reason why people are now speculating this is Matt Damon’s costume at the same location, which some believe is for the Nausicaa scene. If all of these pH๏τos are from the same location and the filming of the same scene, this could strongly hint that Zendaya is playing Nausicaa after all. Other pH๏τos might be more in line with Athena’s role in the story, but everything is, of course, still unconfirmed.

Additionally, in some versions of the story, Telemachus and Nausicaa end up in a relationship. Therefore, while Nausicaa might be a smaller role for Zendaya than the previously ᴀssumed Athena, it would be very fitting, as Zendaya and Tom Holland are engaged in real life.

Zendaya and Holland also have previous experience portraying love interests, as they notably played Peter Parker and MJ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man films. If Holland does play Telemachus, this could be a good sign for the mythological epic. While Holland and Zendaya are skilled actors and would be great as pretty much any character in The Odyssey, casting them in connected roles could add easy chemistry between the characters and to the overall story.
