After appearing in a record-breaking movie that’s beloved on Netflix, actor Sofia Carson will step into the lead role in the streaming giant’s new rom-com The Life List. Carson is a multihyphenate performer who started dancing as a teenager, joining the IMPAC Youth Ensemble. At the age of 19, she signed as a musician with Broadcast Music, Inc., and at 21, she shifted to onscreen acting. In 2015, she got her big break when she acted as Evie, the Evil Queen’s daughter, in the first Descendants movie, a role she continued in the sequels until 2021.
Outside the Descendants franchise, Sofia Carson has acted in numerous movies and TV shows, gaining a reputation as an actor capable of carrying a story. She gained international name recognition in 2024 when acting in a hit Netflix film that broke many records. Now, she’s leading another movie with the streaming giant.

Netflix’s 2024 film Carry-On was an immediate hit for the streaming giant, garnering 172.1 million views. The action-thriller starring Taron Egerton and Sofia Carson currently remains the second-most-watched Netflix original film of all time behind Red Notice. The movie is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive 87% based on 103 critic reviews. After appearing as the deuteragonist in the cast of Carry-On, Sofia Carson takes on a leading role in the cast of the film The Life List.
The romantic dramedy follows a woman named Alex Rose, played by Carson, whose life is turned upside down after her mother’s death. In her will, her mother says that Alex must complete a “life list” that she wrote at the age of 13 in order to earn her inheritance. Some of the items on The Life List, including finding true love, will prove harder than others. Luckily, she’ll have the help of a lawyer named Brad, her family, and her friends.
Sofia Carson Already Has Another Netflix Movie In The Works
Outside of Carry-On and The Life List, actor Sofia Carson already has one other Netflix movie out and a second one in the works. Carson starred in the controversial 2022 film Purple Heart, which tells the love story of a Marine and songwriter who get married so she can get his military benefits.
Based on the тιтular novel by Julia Whelan, her next movie with Netflix is the rom-com My Oxford Year, which doesn’t have a release date yet but is projected to come out in late 2025. The story follows Anna, an American woman who leaves for the University of Oxford and meets a local young man who changes her life. This film would continue the trend of Sofia Carson acting in rom-coms after Purple Heart and The Life List.
