A Working Man is poised to dethrone Snow White at the domestic box office. The former is the newest Jason Statham action movie and sees him reuniting with director David Ayer, who helmed his 2024 hit The Beekeeper. The A Working Man release comes during the sophomore weekend of Snow White, Disney’s live-action remake starring Rachel Zegler in the тιтle role opposite Gal Gadot. Although it opened at No. 1, its $42.2 million debut fell below projections as controversy has swirled around the movie because of its depiction of dwarves, the stars’ opposing views on Israel and Palestine, and more.
Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, as of Saturday morning, Snow White is projected to earn a 3-day gross of $13.7 million at the domestic box office during its sophomore weekend. This sees it dropping a severe 68%, falling further than the 2019 Disney live-action disappointment Dumbo (60%) and most likely relinquishing its No. 1 position on the Top 5 chart for the weekend to A Working Man. Although its lead is narrow, the Jason Statham action movie’s projections show it earning $15.6 million for a decisive victory.
What This Means For A Working Man
It Is On Track To Be A Solid Success
Even though the Snow White box office is somewhat compromised by multiple factors, including its 41% Rotten Tomatoes score, the fact that A Working Man debut is outdoing a Disney movie is still a remarkable achievement. However, the movie, which is based on the 2014 Chuck Dixon novel Levon’s Trade and follows a construction worker who uses his skills as a former Royal Marine Commando to try and save his boss’ kidnapped daughter, still has a way to climb. Its reported $40 million budget means that it will likely have to gross $100 million worldwide in order to break even.
Audiences disagree with critics on Snow White, giving it 74% on the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter.
Precedent shows that the movie should be on track to turn a profit. The Beekeeper opened at about the same level with a $16.6 million debut, and by the end of its theatrical run it had legged out to a global total of $162.6 million. If the new movie hits that same trajectory, it could earn $134.2 million. Additionally, while A Working Man reviews have also been mixed to negative like Snow White‘s, earning it a 53% score on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences are giving it a glowing 90% Popcornmeter score, so it could become a word-of-mouth success.
Our Take On The Weekend Box Office
The Domestic Box Office Is Slowly Recovering
While neither A Working Man nor Snow White is propping up the box office with their weekend totals, the fact that three other major releases – Death of a Unicorn, The Chosen – Last Supper, and The Woman in the Yard – are contributing solid grosses have resulted in the overall domestic weekend hitting a total of $79 million total, which is a week-on-week increase of 5% that sees the box office continuing to recover after hitting a 2025 low over the weekend of March 14. The upcoming A Minecraft Movie, which debuts on April 4, should continue this upward momentum.
