Nicolas Cage Rocks Crucifix-Shaped Sunglᴀsses In Key Art For New Western Gunslinger

Gunslingers is a new Western with an ensemble cast unlike any other. Written and directed by Brian Skiba, the movie tells the story of the impact the appearance of the most wanted man in America has on a small Kentucky town. Gunslingers serves up justice the hard way according to its official synopsis, which promises a blood-thirsty mob, brother-against-brother violence, and a bullet-ridden Wild West town.

ScreenRant is able to present a first look at the key art from Gunslingers, which highlights the three biggest players from the movie’s cast. The poster showcases a bowler hat- and crucifix sunglᴀsses-wearing Nicolas Cage, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me’s Heather Graham, and Stephen Dorff, who recently made his return to a hit HBO comedy as The Righteous Gemstones’ Vance Simkins. In Gunslingers, Cage plays Ben, a spiritually awakened mad genius, Graham plays a frontier woman named Val, and Dorff portrays reformed gunslinger Thomas Keller. The movie hits theaters, digital platforms, and on demand on April 11.

Gunslingers Could Treat Audiences To An Absolutely Uninhibited Nicolas Cage

The Gunslingers key art certainly gives audiences a hint of what they might expect from the movie, and it’s best followed up by a look at the Gunslingers trailer. The Academy Award-winning actor is known above all else for his fearless performances, and Brian Skiba’s Western appears set to deliver viewers a Cage performance for the ages. The actor’s wardrobe alone suggests that the costumers were inspired by the energy he brought to the project, instantly setting him apart from every other character, and actor, in the film.

The movie trailer also showcases the voice Cage employed for the movie, which is unlike any heard before in one of the actor’s films. The raspy yet energetic tone Cage found is a standout aspect of the trailer, and has the potential to make any of his lines unforgettable entries in the actor’s legend. Cage’s voice also makes sense when you think about the story of him almost being cast as the villain in 2011’s The Green Hornet.

Cage’s performance in Gunslingers has the potential to stand out even more because it doesn’t look like the other cast members are following him down the road of character eccentricity. The film’s other stars appear to largely be playing it as a classic Western, which servees to help Cage truly pop out of the world he inhabits–though, it should be said, even when Cage stands out, he does tend to serve the story and not distract from it. The blend of classic Western gunslinging and a seemingly unbound Nicolas Cage might just make Gunslingers an unforgettable experience.

Gunslingers will be out in movie theaters and available on digital and on demand on April 11.
