RRR Star Ram Charan Revealed In First Look At New Indian Action Movie Peddi

A first look has been unveiled for Ram Charan’s 16th movie, Peddi. Charan is an Indian star known for his work in Telugu projects such as the smash hit movie RRR, which won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2023 in addition to being the fourth highest-grossing Indian movie in history as of the time of writing. The upcoming project, which was previously only known as RC16, is an action-musical that is being directed by Buchi Babu Sana (Uppena) and features compositions by A. R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire).

In honor of Ram Charan’s 40th birthday, the official account RC16, now тιтled Peddi, revealed a first look at the project via pair of posters that were revealed after a motion teaser which unveiled the official тιтle. One poster shows his тιтle character holding a cricket bat while wearing what appears to be a cricket uniform and looking intensely to one side.

The other is an extreme closeup of him in character, with a brand-new look that includes wild hair, a grown-out beard, and a nose ring. He is also smoking while holding up several matches at once. See the full-size posters below:

What This Means For Peddi

The Movie Will Be Very Different For Ram Charan

While not much is yet known about the upcoming Peddi, these posters offer a few clues as to what the story will contain. The first major clue is the cricket bat, which could imply that his character is either a current or former cricket player. The other clue is the second poster, which uses the intensity of the character’s gaze, his careless use of the matches, and his overall look to imply that he will be more rugged and perhaps less morally upright than his character in 2022’s RRR, who was loosely inspired by real-life revolutionary leader Alluri Sitarama Raju.

Cricket is a very popular sport in India, and both the women’s and men’s senior national teams have been champions at multiple tournaments, with the most recent victory being the latter winning the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.

Ram Charan’s characters are more frequently clean-cut and have more upstanding arcs like those of Alluri Sitarama Raju in the RRR story. However, these images tease Peddi may see the actor stepping out of his comfort zone following his fifteenth movie, Game Changer, which saw him portray both future Chief Minister Andhra Pradesh and his father, Abhyudayam Party founder Appanna.

The Movie Shows Major Promise

These two first-look images from Peddi will likely be the only tease that the movie gets for some time, as it is currently in production. However, the movie – which also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyendu Sharma – already seems like a promising project. By returning to the action genre but showing a different side of his personality, Ram Charan could showcase his range while potentially centering another major hit, even though its ability to rival RRR remains to be seen.
