David Corenswet May Be The New Superman, But He’d Be Perfect For These 6 Star Wars Characters

While he may be the next live-action Superman in the DCU, David Corenswet has always wanted to be a Jedi. Having professed himself to be a major Star Wars fan, you don’t have to look long on social media before finding lots of fun videos where the actor openly shares his love for the galaxy far, far away. To that end, there’s never been a better time for Corenswet to potentially be cast in a future Star Wars project.

While it’s been 6 years since the last Star Wars movie, Lucasfilm is gearing up for a major return to the theaters, beginning with The Mandalorian & Grogu in 2026. However, there are multiple projects currently in development beyond that, providing David Corenswet with ample opportunity to one day receive a coveted Star Wars role (especially if this year’s performance as the Man of Steel is well-received). To that end, here are six potential Star Wars characters/roles that would be perfect for David Corenswet.

6

Darth Revan

An Old Republic movie or project has yet to be officially confirmed. However, it is a mᴀssively untapped section of the Star Wars timeline that Lucasfilm will likely be looking to tap into at some point. To that end, there’s no bigger Old Republic character that Corenswet could play than Revan, the Jedi-turned-Sith-turned-Jedi whose full story and journey is as complex and dynamic as Anakin Skywalker’s, if not more so.

Keanu Reeves has been the fan-cast frontrunner for years. That said, it’s been fun to see Corenswet’s name being thrown into the Revan mix recently, especially as videos of his personal Star Wars fandom continue to trend online. It’d certainly be interesting to see him portray a character with such a strong duality.

5

Stellan Gios

Many Still Have Faith In The High Republic

Regardless of The Acolyte’s underwhelming performance, many Star Wars fans still have hope that The High Republic will continue to be realized on-screen in live action. To that end, Corenswet could perhaps play someone like Stellan Gios, a leading member of the Jedi Order during the first phase of Lucasfilm’s High Republic novels who gave his life during the Nihil marauders’ attack on Starlight Beacon, saving countless lives and many of his fellow Jedi. However, it’s currently unknown if Lucasfilm has any plans to flesh out this era further beyond the conclusion of its third publishing phase.

Beyond a direct adaptation of the novels, one could argue that Corenswet could be perfect as a younger Stellan Gios in a theoretical prequel movie or series. It would be pretty cool to see his early adventures when he was still a Jedi Knight alongside his friends and key allies, Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann. However, that’s just some fun wishful thinking.

David Corenswet Could Get Cast In James Mangold’s Star Wars Movie

One Of The First Jedi?

It’s been confirmed that James Mangold is developing a Star Wars movie that currently has the тιтle Dawn of the Jedi. While not much is known about the upcoming film, we do know that it will be a “biblical epic” about the very first Jedi Knights and will be 25,000 years before the prequels. To that end, this could be a prime opportunity for David Corenswet to get his Jedi role.

David Corensweet Could Join The New Jedi Order

Joining Forces With Rey Skywalker

At the other end of the Star Wars timeline, movies are being developed after the sequel trilogy. Although one of them is set to star Ryan Gosling from director Shawn Levy, a movie starring Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker and her founding of a New Jedi Order is also in the works from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Much like Mangold’s movie, this is another opportunity where David Corenswet could perhaps be cast as an all-new Jedi character in the Star Wars galaxy.

2

Corenswet Could Be A Great X-Wing Pilot

Rogue Squadron Is Still In Development

A Star Wars X-Wing and a couple other rebel starships are being chased in a dogfight by Imperial ships. Other skirmishes are in the background, including one where a TIE Fighter is being blown up. The aerial fight is located over a city in a desert, where Imperial AT-ATs are attacking.

There’s a great video online from Instagram’s @willoftheforce_, who’s compiled several of the best times David Corenswet has brought up Star Wars in interviews, and one sees the actor sharing his love for the Rogue Squadron novels. To that end, it’s worth noting that Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron movie is reportedly still in development. While a role in this movie would likely involve Corenswet playing an X-Wing pilot for the New Republic rather than a Jedi, I sincerely doubt he’d be unhappy.

1

Clone Wars-Era Anakin Skywalker?

Unlikely, But Fun To Think About

Admittedly, this is the most unlikely option on this entire Star Wars list, but it’s still fun to think about. In a world where Lucasfilm decides to forego CGI de-aging techniques for legacy characters, it’s cool to imagine Corenswet playing a Clone Wars-era Anakin Skywalker, who does share a pᴀssing resemblance to Hayden Christensen. That said, Christensen’s return to the role and his Clone Wars scenes in 2023’s Ahsoka flashbacks were pretty great, and Lucasfilm will likely continue with the OG Anakin actor when and if they do more (or even a full live-action Clone Wars project).
