The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Pedro Pascal addresses whether MCU Reed Richards can stretch all his body parts and has a hilarious response to a comic book panel that makes it canon. Pascal is set to play Richards in the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which hits theaters this July. His iteration of Reed Richards leads the beloved Marvel superhero team that will make their debut in the MCU after previously being in separate film series produced by Fox.
Recently, Pascal appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote The Last of Us season 2. During the interview, Kimmel wanted to know if Mister Fantastic could stretch all his body parts. Pascal responded with a vague, but effective reʙuттal.
“Everything has to stretch.”
Following his response, Kimmel pulled out a comic book panel featuring Richards and Sue Storm, a.k.a. Invisible Woman, in bed. In the panel, Sue tells Reed, “Have I ever mentioned what a…wonderful set of abilities you acquired from those cosmic rays?” While not directly confirmed, it’s heavily implied that Reed can extend all his limbs, even his more intimate ones. Pascal still didn’t take the bait, and gave Kimmel an equally hilarious response:
“Meaning he’s an incredible conversationalist in bed.”
What Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards Stretching Power Comments Mean
Mister Fantastic has incredible flexibility, allowing him to contort, flatten, enlarge, and move his body in any way imaginable. In the Fantastic Four movies and comics, Reed is mainly shown moving his legs, feet, and torso, creating enlarged fists for punching or wrapping around enemies so they can’t move. However, many comic book readers have dirty minds and have wondered if Mister Fantastic can stretch all of his parts, including his more private ones.
Pascal’s comment confirms Reed can move and stretch every part of his body. It’s also confirmed by the comic book panel, featuring an incredibly grateful Sue Storm. The comic book creators likely threw in that quote to confirm this detail for curious readers, but still wanted to keep the content family-friendly. Pascal likely can’t say too much about Reed’s abilities since they weren’t shown in the first trailer, but he knows flexibility powers will come with many questions.
Our Take On Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards Stretching Power Comments
Pascal’s comments confirm Reed’s flexibility in all of his body parts, including the ones that Marvel would have to censor. Logically, it makes sense, because why wouldn’t he be able to move every part of his body? If it was in the cosmic rays, then it was likely affected. As long as his body parts are attached, each one will stretch when he wants them to stretch. Don’t expect Marvel to answer this question in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but it could be something ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool could address in another film.
