5 Throne Of Glᴀss Characters I Desperately Need Sarah J. Maas To Write A 9th Book About

Throne of Glᴀss may or may not ever see another sequel, but fans would certainly love a continuation of the stories of certain characters who didn’t get as definitive of an ending. Throne of Glᴀss remains bestselling fantasy author Sarah J. Maas’ best book series, encompᴀssing eight novels and an epic saga of Erilea and the surrounding continents. While the story primarily focuses on Aelin and her journey to reclaim her throne, Throne of Glᴀss is so rich because it showcases many characters on quests to save their kingdoms in the face of the evil Valg army.

Most of the main characters of Throne of Glᴀss got their supposed happy endings — Aelin, Rowan, Aedion, Lysandra, Dorian, Chaol, Manon, and a few others settled down into couples and/or focused on the more mundane aspects of ruling. Some supporting characters, however, are set up to face unique challenges in the years to come, prompting questions about what happens next for them. Maas has not entirely ruled out writing another Throne of Glᴀss book, which could be helpful when it comes to these characters’ arcs.

Sellene Whitethorn

The Fae Queen Of The East

The final chapters of Kingdom of Ash mention Rowan telling Sellene this news, and she needs some time alone to process it. Sellene doesn’t seem to have ever expected to rule the kingdom she grew up in, making me curious about what the next chapters of her life look like when she is thrust into this responsibility. She seems like she should be more important in the story than she is when it refers to her as the “Fae Queen of the East” counterpart to Aelin as the “Faerie Queen of the West.

Ren Allsbrook

Lord Of Terrasen

Ren is a supporting member of the Terrasen court who is somewhat on the outskirts of Aelin’s inner circle; the series’ ending suggests that they want to welcome him in more fully, but we never see him take the Blood Oath to Aelin or return to ruling his own home. Ren has suffered much as a result of the Valg’s war — losing his parents, sisters, and grandfather. He could benefit from another Throne of Glᴀss book that shows him stepping up as a Lord of Terrasen without his grandfather essentially ruling in his place any longer.

Petrah Blueblood

The Bluebood Heir

The witch characters as a group could do with more story, as they are setting out to rebuild their kingdom and heal centuries of bloodshed between the Ironteeth and Crochan clans, all while still keeping a few secrets from each other. As Manon is the new queen, Bronwyn is essentially representing the Crochans as an advisor and Petrah for the Ironteeth. Petrah is compᴀssionate most of the time but also viciously avenges her fallen wyvern in Kingdom of Ash and could be a strong new POV character through whom to explore the new witch kingdom.

Evangeline Ennar Darrow

Lady Of Terrasen

Evangeline is also set up to have a great future arc of maintaining relationships with various family and becoming a leader in Terrasen in her own right. While Lysandra marries Aedion and oversees her own territory in Terrasen, Lord Darrow makes Evangeline his heir in a great plot twist. Evangeline will now grow up in Terrasen, preparing to inherit this position, possibly moving back and forth between Lysandra and Darrow’s residences, and figuring out her personal goals as an adult — there is plenty going on with her to relate to readers.

Vaughan

Sixth Cadre Member

Vaughan is a frankly hilarious member of the Throne of Glᴀss cast, a member of Rowan’s so-called “cadre,” the rest of which are very important in the story. However, Vaughan is off on some mission or other the entire time after his brief appearance in Heir of Fire, and is only brought up again as an afterthought after all his brothers-in-arms are either ᴅᴇᴀᴅ or bloodsworn to Aelin.

Therefore, there is a lot of potential to focus on him in a Throne of Glᴀss sequel, answering questions like what he has been doing all this time and whether he would just as eagerly join Aelin’s court. The cadre are some of the most powerful characters in Throne of Glᴀss, and Vaughan would be no different. With such an expansive world, it is no wonder that there are figures like this who are essentially unused characters and could make up the basis of a sequel.
