Two Stranger Things Stars Just Released Separate Dystopian Sci-Fi Movies A Week Apart On Streaming

Stranger Things season 5 is set to premiere later this year, but in the meantime, two of the show’s stars have just released sci-fi movies on streaming services. Stranger Things season 5 will be the last season of the hit Netflix show that began nearly a decade ago. While no release date has been confirmed, Netflix has shared a teaser trailer for Stranger Thing‘s episode тιтles that has spawned plenty of audience speculation. While the тιтles can help fans guess what may be coming, very little is actually known about the plot of Stranger Things‘ final season.

Additionally, since it has been so long since season 4, many Stranger Things cast members have moved on to other projects in the interim. Some, like Winona Ryder, already had fruitful careers prior to their time on Stranger Things, but the younger cast members have continued to branch out into other roles as they have grown up. While Stranger Things will likely continue to be one of their biggest shows, cast members like Millie Bobby Brown and Sadie Sink have appeared in numerous other projects and, surprisingly, their most recent movies have come out just one week apart.

Sadie Sink & Millie Bobby Brown Star In Different Dystopian Movies Now Streaming

O’Dessa And The Electric State Can Be Found On Hulu And Netflix, Respectively

Millie Bobby Brown and Sadie Sink both have new dystopian sci-fi movies on streaming that are perfect for audiences missing their Stranger Things performances. Brown stars in The Electric State along with Chris Pratt, which is streaming on Netflix. The movie follows Michelle (Brown), who sets out on a journey to find her brother after meeting with a robot that seems to be controlled by him. Along the way, more information about the tense relationships between robots and humans is uncovered as Michelle learns what she truly wants to fight for.

Both O’Dessa and The Electric State see the Stranger Things stars going on gripping adventures and fighting against dangerous foes.

In a similarly sci-fi career move, Sadie Sink’s new movie O’Dessa has just been released on Hulu. Sink plays the тιтular character, O’Dessa, a farm girl who decides to journey into the dangerous city in order to get back an important family heirloom. However, in doing so she comes face to face with the city’s tyrannical leader (played by Murray Bartlett) and discovers her true love. Both O’Dessa and The Electric State see the Stranger Things stars going on gripping adventures and fighting against dangerous foes.

O’Dessa & The Electric State Share Similarities, But One Thing Sets Them Apart

O’Dessa Has One Key Thing That The Electric State Does Not

The Electric State and O’Dessa actually have a surprising amount in common. Both are dystopian science fiction movies with young female leads whose circumstances force them to leave behind everything they know and go on a trying journey. Both young women are driven by a desire to maintain a connection to their lost family, whether by searching for a lost brother or lost heirloom. What’s more, both movies employ similar retro-futuristic settings that combine cultural touchstones from past eras while showcasing advanced technologies.

These similarities certainly show that the two Stranger Things stars currently have some overlap in their career trajectories, but O’Dessa has one thing that quickly sets it apart from The Electric State. O’Dessa is a musical. Sink’s character O’Dessa is billed as the last in her family of ramblers, who were once traveling singers. O’Dessa is a rock opera that blends its тιтular character’s more folksy style at the beginning of the film with electrified pop and rock when she reaches the city, setting Sadie Sink’s new movie slightly apart from that of her Stranger Things co-star.
