Unwelcome (2022) is a horror-thriller film directed by Jon Wright. The story follows a young couple, Maya (Hannah John-Kamen) and Jamie (Douglas Booth), who move from London to the countryside of Ireland to escape their traumatic past and start fresh. They inherit a secluded house but soon discover it comes with an unsettling secret. The couple is warned by their new neighbors to stay away from the surrounding forest, which is believed to be inhabited by malevolent creatures known as the βRedcaps,β mythical goblin-like beings who have a dangerous, violent nature. As the couple attempts to settle in, they unknowingly provoke the creatures, and their lives are soon threatened by increasingly horrific events. The film blends elements of folklore, suspense, and dark fantasy as the couple fights to survive against the supernatural forces lurking in the woods.
