Street Fighter Live-Action Movie Imagined With A-List Stars, Including Dwayne Johnson As Guile & Jack Black As Blanka

An imagined Street Fighter live-action movie gets fan art that includes A-list stars. Street Fighter is a classic video game that originated as an arcade game in 1987. After its initial release, it spawned multiple sequels and spinoffs, including Street Fighter II in 1991. In the current era, it is becoming increasingly popular to adapt video games for the big and small screen, as evidenced by recent projects such as The Last of Us, Fallout, and Mortal Kombat II. The Street Fighter game had a feature film adaptation in 1994, which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Now, new AI-ᴀssisted fan art from @mkviciogamesoficial imagines what Street Fighter might look like in live-action. The art took the form of a series of still images, which imagine Hollywood stars in some of Street Fighter‘s key roles. These actors include Dwayne Johnson, Lucy Liu, Jack Black, Owen Wilson, Terry Crews, Amy Schumer, and Ben Stiller. Wilson wears red garb as Ken, while Liu plays Chun-Li, and Black has the green skin and orange hair to stand in for Blanka.

What This Means For Street Fighter

Street Fighter Has A New Adaptation In The Works

While this is a fun imagining of what a modern-day Street Fighter movie could look like, there is actually an adaptation in the works. In April 2023, it was announced that a Street Fighter reboot was in development from Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou. In June of last year, however, the director stepped down from the project, but it was then announced just over a week later that the film would have a 2026 release date. It is now going to be directed by Kitao Sakurai, but no cast members have been announced.

Despite no one actually being cast, this latest AI art is not the first time someone has suggested Johnson as a potential cast member. Given Johnson’s large stature, he could easily stand in for a number of characters from the fighting series. He also has experience in video game adaptations, as he previously starred in Rampage.

Our Take On The Latest Street Fighter Art

Jack Black Would Be A Good Casting

Jack Black's Steve looking confident in A Minecraft Movie

Of the proposed cast members in this AI casting, I think Black would be the most appropriate for the real cast. The star has previously contributed his talents to video game adaptations such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Borderlands, and The Minecraft Movie. Building part of his career on the Kung Fu Panda movies, Black also has experience with voice acting, which makes him well-suited to play a role like Blanka which might rely on greater CGI ᴀssistance. As news about the Street Fighter reboot develops, it will be interesting to see who is eventually cast.
