Elizabeth Olsen Has Pitched Scarlet Witch’s Return To Marvel And Even Has A Clear Idea Of How Wanda Will Look (& It’s Very Different To Her Last Appearance)

The Scarlet Witch‘s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe could have a surprising twist if Elizabeth Olsen gets her wish. Wanda Maximoff had a shocking villain turn after WandaVision, going on a murderous spree through the multiverse in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While she managed to realize the error in her actions by the end of the film, the Scarlet Witch’s MCU journey was seemingly cut short when she died as Mount Wundagore came crashing down on her. Agatha All Along teased that Wanda could be back in future MCU movies, and Olsen has an idea.

Speaking to The Playlist, Elizabeth Olsen revealed that she pitched an idea for Wanda Maximoff’s MCU return to happen 50 years later, with the Scarlet Witch having white hair. Olsen claims that it is her dream version of the character, with Wanda being “a creature” that the MCU’s heroes find in the future. The actress noted how there is some background for that in the comics, mentioning how Wanda ages quickly in one of them. After WandaVision‘s success, a Scarlet Witch-centric project focused on Olsen’s vision for Wanda would have the potential to be among the MCU’s best offerings. Check out the full quote below:

“You know, when I think about my dream version [of Wanda], it’s like 50 years later, and I have white hair— such a big, mᴀssive white wig—and gnarly face of wrinkles doing like a Tracy Ullman thing. And I am just like a creature that they find. And that’s how I imagine Wanda’s next journey.

It’s something I have quite literally pitched. Because it would be so fun to get to do that to me. I mean, I guess in one of the comics, she ages quite quickly, and I think those are the images that are implanted in my brain next because I haven’t done it.”

What Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Return Comments Mean

Wanda Maximoff Has A Lot Of Potential Left

After WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Olsen’s Scarlet Witch has become one of the MCU’s most popular characters. With Marvel teasing in Agatha All Along that Wanda might not be ᴅᴇᴀᴅ after all, as well as Olsen wanting to return to the franchise, the Scarlet Witch will likely come back sooner rather than later. It is interesting that Olsen not only wants to return as Wanda, but also has a whole story for how that could happen. More than that, she has even pitched it to people at Marvel.

Two logical projects for the Scarlet Witch’s return to the MCU are Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. In the comics’ Children’s Crusade storyline, Wanda is revealed to be alive after she is presumed ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. The Scarlet Witch was living happily with Doctor Doom. The MCU’s Avengers movies could go for a version of that story, with Wanda being found as the weaker and older version of the character that Olsen pitched by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, who gets her back to health. In the interview, Olsen responded with, “Yeah,” to having time to talk to the Russo Brothers.

The Actress’ Idea For Wanda’s MCU Return Is Intriguing

I did not think about an older version of Wanda being the setup for her next MCU appearance until now. However, I believe that Olsen’s idea makes a lot of sense for the Scarlet Witch’s story. She had to use a lot of her power to destroy all Darkholds across the multiverse. This could have left Wanda in a weakened state, with the dark magic she used making her grow old. It’s the perfect setup to try something fresh with the Scarlet Witch, and if Doctor Doom were to help her, she could be his ally in the Avengers movies.
