A cryptic teaser trailer for Together reveals Dave Franco and Alison Brie’s body horror nightmare. Written and directed by Michael Shanks in his debut, the body horror film follows a couple who reach a crossroads years into their relationship and move to the country, where a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and even their flesh. Dave Franco and Alison Brie, who have been married since 2017, star in the two lead roles alongside Damon Herriman.
Now, NEON has unveiled a cryptic teaser trailer for Together. The trailer begins with Tim (Dave Franco) and Mille (Alison Brie) moving into their new home in the countryside, set to a peaceful piano melody. However, after seeing several snippets of dogs, their idyllic life quickly deteriorates. As the piano melody speeds up, there is a montage of several unnerving sights, with the couple seemingly possessed by a supernatural force. The only lines spoken in the trailer are Tim saying “I love you,” and Millie repeating back to him, “I love you too.” Check out the trailer below:
What The Together Trailer Means For The Movie
The Buzzy Body Horror Film Is Coming To Theaters
This past January, Together premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in the Midnight section, which is mostly reserved for horror movies. The film generated a ton of buzz following its premiere, with Together reviews calling it a wildly entertaining and grotesquely humorous blend of body horror and relationship drama with standout performances from Alison Brie and Dave Franco, a sharp script by Michael Shanks, and a uniquely unsettling yet accessible take on love, codependency, and transformation. In turn, Together has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 44 reviews at the time of writing.
This buzz out of the Sundance Film Festival generated significant interest and sparked a bidding war among several distributors, including A24, Neon, Apple TV+, Focus Features, Searchlight Pictures, Mubi, and Amazon MGM Studios. However, it was Neon who ultimately won the rights to the film for $17 million, one of the biggest deals in Sundance history. The studio has scheduled the horror movie for a late summer release.
Our Take On The Together Trailer
It’s Another Masterclass From Neon
The cryptic teaser trailer for Together appears to be the start of another masterful marketing campaign from Neon. The teaser doesn’t reveal much about the movie, including the mysterious, unnatural force that threatens the couple. It’s reminiscent of Neon’s masterful marketing campaign for the horror movie Longlegs, which opted not to reveal Nicolas Cage’s serial killer, and went on to become Neon’s highest-grossing film domestically. With Neon orchestrating another masterful marketing campaign for Together, combined with the preexisting buzz from Sundance, there is a good chance it becomes one of 2025’s standout horror movies.
Together releases in theaters on August 1.
