As the DC Universe is still without a Wonder Woman, one of the stars from the DCEU franchise reveals if she would be up for the challenge. While the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” slate has several projects coming up for some of the most iconic Justice League heroes, a solo Wonder Woman movie has yet to be announced at this time. Even though a prequel series, Paradise Lost, is in the works, many are wondering when Diana will show up in the present DCU timeline.
In a new interview with The Direct, Shazam! franchise actress Grace Caroline Currey, who played Mary Marvel, was asked if she would be interested in playing Wonder Woman in Gunn’s DCU, as she has been one of the popular fan casting ideas for Diana. While not confirming if she has had any conversations with DC Studios, Currey shared the following about the possibility of playing the next cinematic version of Wonder Woman:
Grace Caroline Currey: That’s a loaded question. That’s been very nice to see people say that. I think getting to be in the universe at all has been such a lottery kind of feeling that I don’t know if I got to come back in any capacity, that’d be wild.
What Grace Caroline Curry’s Wonder Woman Comments Mean For The DCU
Given how short her time was with the DCEU movie timeline, it is understandable why Curry would want another go with the superhero genre, as Mary Marvel had only just begun her journey with the Shazam! films. Based on her response to fans wanting her to play Wonder Woman in the DCU, it seems this is a role she would be open to if given the opportunity. However, as of right now, there don’t seem to be any casting searches going on for Wonder Woman in the DCU franchise.
Even if Curry was having conversations with DC Studios, she wouldn’t be able to reveal it either way as that could easily affect her chances of landing the role. With a high-profile role like Wonder Woman seemingly being some time off appearing on-screen, it will likely be quite some time before DC Studios begin their actual search for the new cinematic take on Diana. There will also likely be a clear update from Gunn and DC Studios when they are actually looking to start their Wonder Woman casting search, especially when they know which movie or TV show she will pop up in.
Our Take On Grace Caroline Curry’s Wonder Woman Comments
While time will tell if Curry gets a sH๏τ to audition for Wonder Woman, it would be fun to see her in the DCU as either Diana or another DC heroine, as she was one of the stronger parts of the Shazam! movies. Since DC Studios has already revealed they are open to bringing back DCEU actors for new roles, Curry could theoretically land herself a role in the new franchise, since her prior role wouldn’t preclude her from appearing in the DCU. But for now, the world will have to wait and see how and when Wonder Woman gets introduced into the DCU, and who will actually play her in Gunn’s reboot.
