What Does The Trailer For Shadow Force Reveal?
Viewers Should Expect A Spy Thriller With A Big Focus On What We Do For Family
The tagline for Shadow Force states, “Family over everything.” The premise continues to play off the trope of former spies turned lovers, which has seemingly seen a resurgence in movies today. While it has layers of Mr. and Mrs Smith, the new 2025 movie adds stakes to the couple’s family, particularly with their son being caught by Strong’s villain. Just recently, Back in Action was released on Netflix, playing on similar elements of espionage and family with Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz as the leading couple.
While the film will mark the first collaboration between Washington and Sy, it is not their first go-around in the espionage genre. Washington previously appeared in the 2002 film Bad Company as the love interest of Chris Rock’s character. Sy is well-known for leading the popular Netflix series Lupin, where he portrayed the thief ᴀssane Diop. He also starred in Peacock’s The Killer remake, alongside Nathalie Emmanuel.
Our Take On The Shadow Force Trailer
Looks Like Fun For The Whole Family
Seemingly blending thrilling action with comedy and family dynamics, Shadow Force looks like a solid take on the spy genre. With Washington and Sy leading the charge against a villainous Strong, it feels familiar and fresh, as a diverse cast of heroes takes on what looks like a formulaic, in a pleasing way, antagonistic force. Only so much can be speculated with only one trailer out so far, but whatever footage that’s available for Shadow Force does tease an entertaining spy thriller.
Shadow Force will be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
