“Forces You To Feel Something”: Life Of Chuck Star Shares Heartfelt Message About Appearing In Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King Adaptation

Rahul Kohli shares his heartfelt reaction to being a part of The Life of Chuck. Directed by Mike Flanagan, the Stephen King adaptation premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last September. Told in reverse, the film tells the story of the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz. Kohli plays a supporting role in the star-studded Life of Chuck ensemble that includes Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, Harvey Guillén, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthew Lillard, Molly C. Quinn, Tom Hiddleston, and Jacob Tremblay. The film has a May 30 release date.

Speaking on social media, Kohli offers a heartfelt reflection on his time working on The Life of Chuck. In an emotional post, he wrote, “To be on set with my heroes, working on a scene, and being treated as a colleague seemed just as challenging and unobtainable as standing on the surface of Mars” after spending years dreaming of being an actor. He was taken aback simply by seeing his name at the end of the trailer, expressing graтιтude for his experience.

What The Life Of Chuck Meant For Rahul Kohli

The Film Allowed Kohli To Act Alongside Major Stars

The Life of Chuck is far from Kohli’s first on-screen role, as the actor had his breakout part playing Ravi Chakrabarti in iZombie. He also played a supporting role in two episodes of Supergirl and, more recently, in The Fall of the House of Usher. The Life of Chuck is particularly special, giving Kohli the chance to act alongside some film legends such as Hamill. His graтιтude post reflects on how much the film affected him, as he is emotional when speaking about his growth. On the other hand, the upcoming adaptation is Kohli’s biggest movie to date since he has only made four movies in his lifetime.

Kohli’s statement comes after The Life of Chuck trailer was released, which built up more excitement for the film. However, his career thrived thanks to his frequent collaboration with Flanagan, which included projects like The Fall of the House of Usher, and Midnight Mᴀss. Since Flanagan has a history of recycling his stars, it’s not surprising that Kohli was one of many stars in The Life of Chuck to rework with the acclaimed filmmaker. The director is even re-collaborating with his wife, Kate Siegel, and Hamill, to name a few.

Our Take On Rahul Kohli’s The Life Of Chuck Appreciation

Kohli’s Statement Could Be Even More Deep-Rooted

It should be highlighted that Kohli’s statement runs even deeper since the actor himself is of South Asian descent. While Hollywood has attempted to address the diversity issues in casting and movie choices, there is still an under-representation of South Asian actors in both movies and television, which could account for Kohli’s emotional post. On the other hand, I’m extremely proud of the actor and how much he has helped to push the representation of South Asians. The Life of Chuck is finally showing his recognition, so it’s understandable why just his name in the credits is a big deal.
