Jennifer Love Hewitt Seemingly Wraps Filming On I Know What You Did Last Summer Reboot In Ominous Set Video

Jennifer Love Hewitt shares a new glimpse at the production of I Know What You Did Last Summer‘s reboot in a new behind-the-scenes video. The upcoming 2025 slasher horror reboot returns to the world and characters of the 1997 movie, picking up from the events of its 1998 theatrically-released sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Alongside Hewitt, I Know What You Did Last Summer‘s reboot will see the return of Freddie Prinze Jr. to reprise the role of survivor Ray Bronson.

As filming continues on the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, Hewitt took to Instagram to share a new video from the set. While she cannot be seen directly on-screen in the video, the clip sees someone use a clapper board for the movie that seemingly affirms the reboot’s тιтle, all while set to a rendition of Julie James’ theme. However, Hewitt’s caption states that “it was good to see” her character again while praising director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s work, hinting she’d finished her contributions to the movie. What Hewitt’s Post Could Mean For I Know What You Did Last Summer’s Reboot

Could A Shorter On-Set Presence Hint At A Terrible End?

With no further comments from the cast or crew on the current status of I Know What You Did Last Summer’s reboot, Hewitt’s post suggests that the star has wrapped up her involvement earlier than most of the cast. While the order of filming doesn’t necessarily determine how a movie will unfold, Hewitt resolving her involvement so soon could suggest that she may not last long as the movie’s mystery unfolds. However, there are alternatives to explain her involvement, later casting, and potential early wrap.

While a shorter filming presence could hint that Julie is set to suffer a rather unfortunate fate or potentially even act as an inciting death for the movie, it could also suggest that she may not come into play until the later events of the movie’s runtime, where she and Ray arrive to help the new cast members survive their own encounters with a killer who knows too much, or perhaps play a less direct role, while Ray takes on a more involved part. However, given the original and second movies’ endings, Julie and Ray may still be the subject of a third killer cliffhanger ending.

Our Thoughts On Hewitt’s I Know What You Did Last Summer Return

The Character And Franchise Have A Strong Following

Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Helen Shivers, Ryan Phillippe as Barry Cox, and Freddie Prinze Jr. as Ray Bronson in the car in the beginning of I Know What You Did Last Summer

With only four months until I Know What You Did Last Summer’s reboot arrives in theaters, it will not be long until audiences see what fate befalls Julie and Ray. While the original and second movies have mixed to negative critical responses, the franchise has earned a strong following and a legacy that ensures there is still excitement to see how a modern take on the series will be executed. As such, with familiar faces returning alongside a cast of well-known up-and-coming stars, I Know What You Did Last Summer’s reimagining is one of 2025’s most anticipated horror features.
