The Life Of Chuck Trailer: Mike Flanagan Wants You To Know Exactly What Kind Of Stephen King Movie This Is

The teaser for The Life of Chuck has finally arrived. The feature, which is based on the Stephen King novella of the same name, is the latest King adaptation written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who also made Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game. The upcoming The Life of Chuck, which is not a horror movie like Flanagan’s previous adaptations, stars Tom Hiddleston in the тιтle role as an ordinary man whose life is depicted in three parts, in reverse chronological order, beginning with his death. The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Matthew Lillard, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Hamill.

NEON has now unveiled the first official teaser trailer for The Life of Chuck. The minute-long video opens with the sound of a clock ticking playing over a vast expanse of starry sky. The rhythm is then matched by other sounds from Chuck’s (Tom Hiddleston) life, including a heart monitor and a blinking streetlight. After the trailer showcases Chuck softly smiling at different ages and then has letters from the names of the robust ensemble cast form the тιтle, Chuck speaks, reflecting that the universe contains mulтιтudes, but “it also contains me.” Watch the trailer below:

What The Life Of Chuck Trailer Means

It Loudly Proclaims Its Intentions

The gentleness and softness of the trailer immediately highlights the way that The Life of Chuck will differ from most other Stephen King movies. While the author has worked in this register before, with perhaps the most notable adaptation of a similar story being the nostalgic 1986 adventure movie Stand by Me, he is best known for penning the novels behind classic horror movies including Carrie, The Shining, Cujo, It, Children of the Corn, and Misery. This new trailer immediately separates itself from that tone with its quiet approach that centers feelings of contentment and awe more than anything else.

More than five dozen movie and television тιтles have adapted Stephen King stories.

The trailer also emphasizes the deeper themes of the story, which explores how Chuck’s seemingly normal life is part of the interconnected fabric of the universe. This is emphasized from the very first sH๏τ of the starry sky, which seems to be from the moment of the character’s death. However, the theme comes to the fore the most when the Life of Chuck cast is listed, and the names of the many stars of the movie coalesce into the тιтle, highlighting the single character that links them all.

Our Take On The Life Of Chuck Trailer

The Movie Could Become A Major Hit

If the tone promised by the trailer for The Life of Chuck, combined with Mike Flanagan’s proven apтιтude for adapting Stephen King’s work, succeeds in helping the movie connect with audiences, it could become a major box office hit. This would make it NEON’s second hit Stephen King adaptation of 2025 after Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey, which has grossed more than $50 million and become the highest-grossing horror movie of the year so far worldwide.
