Elizabeth Olsen teases her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in one of Marvel Studios’ upcoming 2025 projects, while also opening up what may be next for Scarlet Witch. It has been nearly three years since Olsen’s Scarlet Witch took on the position of the big bad in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which led to her death. However, that hasn’t stopped the MCU audience from making it clear that they want Wanda to come back, leading to theories that she didn’t die during the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ending.
In a new interview with Collider, Olsen chatted briefly about her time as Scarlet Witch, as she is set to voice the character in Marvel Zombies, which premieres on October 3 on Disney+. The MCU veteran also discussed whether she sees herself playing Scarlet Witch again after Marvel Zombies, stating:
It’s really unusual. It’s something that’s been incredible. I ᴀssume it’s how people feel when they when they get to do a TV show for a long time. To be able to return to a character and continue to move them forward has been so much fun for me, especially because they gave me something like WandaVision to really blow it all up. And from there, Doctor Strange was such a wild and crazy turn. I do feel very lucky that I’ve been able to play a character for over 10 years of my life, and I’d love to keep doing more. But the animation thing, I feel like it’s a parallel world. I don’t really know how it intersects with what we do. But I’ve really enjoyed getting to play her over 10 years, and I continue to feel lucky that I have the opportunities I did, creatively.
What Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Comments Mean
Marvel Zombies Is A Different Beast, But There Are Chances Of A Live-Action Return
When it comes to voicing Scarlet Witch through a show like Marvel Zombies, the medium is naturally going to be vastly different, but not just because of the animation format. In the Marvel Zombies TV show, Olsen’s version of Scarlet Witch will be one of the zombies that the story focuses on, which organically means bringing a whole new performance to the table. More details on Scarlet Witch and other MCU characters showing up in Marvel Zombies are bound to arrive later in the year.
Regarding Olsen looking at the future of Scarlet Witch, that is where she clearly has to be more careful about what she says, especially if Marvel Studios plans to have her appear in live-action again but are waiting to announce it. Given how the Avengers: Doomsday cast is gearing up to start filming this spring, time will tell if Olsen will be one of the many Marvel stars to return for the highly anticipated Phase 6 installment. With Avengers: Secret Wars also coming up, Wanda could easily appear there too.
Our Take On Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Comments
It Would Be Strange If Scarlet Witch Never Returned
While it will be exciting to see how Marvel Zombies utilizes Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, it will be even more fascinating to see what the live-action side may do with Wanda in the next few years, as it feels very evident that she’ll be back in some capacity. Marvel Studios is aware of the mᴀssive audience that Scarlet Witch has, and it’d be an incredibly odd decision not to bring her back, especially as they get ready to wrap up The Multiverse Saga. For now, though, fans will have to wait and see what is in store for Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in the MCU, both in Marvel Zombies and beyond.
